If that's what the pilots want then that's that. Can fault them for that. If the organizing campaign didn't appeal it didn't appeal. That being said, JetBlue, better recognize the fact that they are on thin ice with pilot benes, and pay etc. If the pilots cease to be satisfied, then the union will appear, and probably instantly, so the organizing drive can be used as leverage against mgmt.

They can do whatever they want but has there ever been a more important time to protect flying via a scope clause?

Not to mention the thousand other things that they could have had with a union but WAKE UP guys and girls, look at what is going on with SWA and UAL lately, codeshares are really up in the air sometimes as to whether or not they are really a codeshare or they are simply getting flying that ought to be someone else's.

Idiotic decision to vote no in my opinion.

Last few jetBlue pilots I had in our jumpseat including two in the past week alone were planning to vote yes. I am surprised at this outcome. Given what is going on today this appeared to be a no-brainer but apparently not.

One of the things that jumped out at me with the new SWA TA was the fact they now HAVE a scope clause.

Yes -- I was referring to the stuff that has happened in the past few months, before the TA, such as WestJet and Volaris.

Is there anything at all preventing jetBlue to give all the 190s to whoever they want for half the pay rates?

Fantastic! Now we can buy them and staple them to the bottom. Who's gonna represent them in a merger anyway? Daddy needs furlough fodder. :sarcasm: (but, only partly)

Pilots want more pay and better QOL, yet they think by voting a union down and keeping it off property will achieve this? Yeah, like mgmt is just going to say, "you really did a great job flying this year, here's an extra 10% bonus".

After seeing what SW just passed, you'd think they'd have passed it by 99%.

The FO's at WN make more than captains at Jetblue.

And please folks, the next time you hear an idiot fellow pilot tell you the days of making $$$ are long gone and the airline can't survive paying you that much, just give him a back hand to the face. If an airline "claims" they need you to fly for less to barely turn a profit, they are either lying, or shouldnt' be in business.

Your a fool if you beleive making 20% will allow the airline to save millions.

OK great. A large pilot group has no interest in representation. They might think things are fine right now, but what happens when things go south? Then it will be like a ship with a captain and no ex-o. No one will be able to stop the indiscriminate firings for "training issues" or the company's decision to chop their pay in half.

Ok. Or they can furlough them just like they would an ALPA carrier so they can save money on retraining. Or if the pay is the issue they can pull a Midwest as well. Which by the way is an ALPA carrier. You didn't say much there chief. It's kind of insulting that people assume a pilot group doesn't know what's best for them.

So what? They voted down representation. What has ALPA done for all of the current airlines that are furloughing?

As long as Union pilots keep allowing them access to Union negotiated privileges then that's one less reason for them to organize.

Anybody here think of the fact that at least 50% or more of the pilots came from airlines that have either gone Chap7 or 11 and have seen what ALPA has (or not) done for them. Maybe they don't want to poison the waters just quite yet.

So the JB guys are wrong because they don't want almighty ALPA on the property. What's wrong with their own in-house deal? JB pilots dealing with JB pilots problems without having to deal with everyone else's. Seems like a good idea if the in house union has a backbone.

And for god's sakes.....the jumpseat threat is getting old.
No jumpseat if you're not ALPA
No jumpseat if you work for GoJets,Gulfstream,or Mesa
No jumpseat if you did'nt CFI

Where does it end.....How about this...pull every jumpseat out of every jet or TP and make everybody pony up some money to get to work.

This vote was not for ALPA. It was for the JBPA (JetBlue Pilots Association). They wanted to model it after SWAPA (Southwest Airlines Pilots Assocation).

You: Bus driver.

Velo: Retired military, union leadership at his airline, 737 captain.

He's not being an ####### just to be an #######, he's trying to tell you something that you're missing, have been missing, and will probably continue to miss because of your righteous indignation.

320Dude... it's all well and good to ask questions but proselytizing (even sarcastically) about something you know nothing about is sort of bad form.
