Got mine...so what is everyone putting down..I put down terminal only...NY and NJ..pref EWR,JFK,LGA,ISP,TEB..what bout u guys?

just a little info for ya on som of your NY choices....

i have a friend who is a trainee at LGA, and he told me recently when we talkin that his boss brought everyone into a meeting and told them that LGA and JFK will no longer be hiring any people who are OTS. they will be taking only people with experience. my friend, and a few others there, were the last bunch of people to be hired for a while.

i also asked him about ISP and FRG, and he said that ISP is completely full with people and he thinks FRG have needed like 1 guy at best. (and there was a kid on here, his name was Wicked, who got picked for FRG). So i just thought you should know that with your Geo Prefs your basically only limiting yourself to ERW and TEB....and you can ask Chichi, who only put NJ Terminal, that its not a smart choice. if i were you i would choose a different state other than NY, or put down BOTH and not just Terminal. and i really hope you dont think im not serious about this information becuase its gonna suck big time if you have to wait for the next pubnat panels to get it right

It would be wise to start out at a smaller facility (Level 8 or 9). It seems Larger facilities are too busy to train. This means it takes years to check out on positions rather than months.

you know there are people that wash out of level 8 or 9 facilities.

It's better for an OTS to start even lower.

December 9th, that's not a lot of time, considering that I have no idea where my gf and kids are going. She's in the military and could either get orders to Omaha, NE or the Baltimore area soon. Obviously there are many more options on the East Coast, but I'm betting there is a little more competition for those slots. On the other hand, she may not get orders at all and we will end up staying in Texas. HMMMMMM...........kind of wish there was an option for a third state. Anybody heard anything about manning in Omaha, NE or Lincoln, NE?

Good call dredding!! :) Now what to put down along with CO???

Colorado is a tough place to get into these days...

I was selected for that region....i know plenty that were not. I would be happy to give you some advice if you are interested... pm me.

lol chichi can indeed confirm that choosing NJ isn't smart... but she's going to keep it as one of her choices anyway :panic:

MackDaddyMark... what bippoptl said is basically all true... JFK and LGA are most likely not going to take an OTS applicant... I haven't looked into EWR because they always have some issue with a trainee doing this or that wrong and I just figured I really wouldn't want to be that trainee. FRG hired at least one person from PUBNAT2... and that's just from people here or over on Stuckmic... I'm sure there could be more than just that one. And ISP... bippoptl says it's full  Looks like ZNY is a huge possibility if you're willing to try for it.

I'm not saying you can't start lower than a Level 8 facility. I think it also depends on the facility you go to. Some facilities have a reputation for excellent training, while others don't.

Well I put down Both...and EWR,JFK,LGA,ISP,FRG so hopefully I can ge tpicked for ZNY im still wishing n hoping an prayin...but right now my financial situation prohibts me from moving...chichi do u have aim..msn? or any toher way of talking instantly...I'd like to pick ur brain on on this matter...Also thanks bippoptl for the insight..thank for looking out for me!!

no problem. you can most likely get into ZNY if you have a Well Qualifying score. its not a 100% guarantee though. my friend scored a 95 on his test and chose Both on his geo prefs for NY and FL and he didnt get selected. but you have a very good chance. if you need to ask me any questions you can IM me. my AIM is the same as my Screen Name here. just pick wisely because waiting till the next announcement sucks. im a pubnat1 applicant who tried getting out of NY, but that didnt work. id be in OKC right now if i went the NY way the whole time.

OK i got the email and i thought i had my 2 preferences all set down, but as soon as i got the E-mail, i seem to be having second thoughts.

I know for sure one position is going to be California. But i'm debating about where to put the 2nd. I'm thinking about putting Washington.

To be bluntly honest, i'll take any where as long as the odds are higher of me getting a facility. Any suggestions?

CA and TX, the two biggest states in the country(excluding Alaska), seems logical to me.
