the official "waiting for FOL from MEM PEPC" thread

Has anyone who was selected for Jacksonville Center gotten a class date or heard anything ? I was and was told told that they are installing new equipment or something like that and that the earliest class date they had was in March. Any info on this would be appreciated.

I am headed to Minneapolis Center (hopefully!) and I have heard that the same situation is going on up here.
 
got a call today asking if I could make an OCT 31st class date. i had to turn it down though, looking for a mid dec date. I cant believe I finally heard something, its been like 4 months. Now I have to decide if I really wanna quit this cake ass railroad job

I live 20 mins from the Academy, but they scheduled me for December. They're giving people halfway across the country one week notices? What crap. I'd start tomorrow if they'd let me.

yea, railroad is really a cake ass job... almost too easy (i'm getting bored:crazy:)

just got back from a 200 mile trip, easy money
 
That is so wierd. I haven't quite figured out their class schedule yet. My class date is the 25th! I don't understand how they are putting these things together and why they are so random!! :confused:

I know they try and keep people going to the same facility in the same class so the facility (especially small ones) doesn't have to have additional classes.

My clearances are already in but if the above post is indeed the case then I probably won't get an academy start date or a FOL for a long time.:( I haven't seen anyone on these forums with a TOL for the same facility as me AND to make matters worse I believe the PUBHI people have only completed taking their ATSAT this week. Who knows how long it will take them to get their clearances. It could be another 2-3 months(or longer) before I'll be teamed up with others going to my facility. Guess I just have to wait it out.

I don't think that's entirely true. Someone else I know going to my facility just started today. One other person from my facility will PV next week, and a fourth PV'd about 2 weeks ago. My date? 4 weeks from now. I've known my date for about a month and requested numerous times to have it bumped up. I was basically told by my HR rep to sit down, be quiet, and if the ATO wants to give me a different date then they will. Now what happens? Someone else gets a notice YESTERDAY that they start in 10 days. Long story short, they made no effort to put folks from my facility in the same class.

I sit corrected! I have heard in the past that they did this. Maybe for larger facilities they don't, I don't know. It's also possible it changed because another office is handing out school dates now, instead of the HR folks that we work with.
 
The way I see it is they put people in classes based on facility need. Not necessarily people in the same facility but the country as a whole. So the ATO probably has a BCS-type computer program that determines how many people need to be put into particular facilities at particular times, and they use that to determine class dates. No real science, just which regional managers and facility managers have the loudest voice for getting an individual in to class.
