***PUBNAT4***

Any terminal in the LA metro area is fine with me... I lived in Vegas for 5 years and wouldn't mind going back there either. I'm single with no kids and pretty open to anything...

Anyone looking at CO or WA??? I would really like terminal or enroute in CO. I would go to APA in a heartbeat!!

Hey everybody, I'm a total newbie to this so pardon my ignorance.
Its great to see there is a place to vent, however, during this long waiting game.

Does anybody know precisely how the geo-preferences work? How many locations can you chose? Are you required to pick 2, or 3, or something to that effect?
I have a few places in mind, but am just curious about what will be required of us.

Also, how do you set your posts or profile to show your personal timeline, (ie. when you applied, took the ATSAT, etc.)? I like the way everyone has that posted but can't seem to figure it out on my own. Once again, pardon my newbie ignorance.

For the geo prefs, you choose enroute, terminal, or both, and then you can choose up to 2 states from a drop down menu. There's also a comment box that's supposed to be used for listing counties within larger states, but many people use that to list more states they'd go to or specific facilities they'd like... I'm still now sure how much they look at that comment box though.

Chi-Chi, thanks a ton for info, and help with the profile setup.
Looking forward to keeping up with this forum as we all anxiously wait till November on those geo preferences...

Well, welcome to the party. The BYOW(bring your own whine) is in full affect.

And don't worry, Raydon will start new threads at a whim.

And most of us will complain about the wait. Its AA for ATCers.

Enjoy the ride

zz :)

I've got another question that hopefully somebody is equipped to answer:

Does anyone know what the difference in training time for enroute vs. terminal? If so, how long is each process individually?

Just pondering how long it will take to get through training should I ever get out to OKlahoma, since the job posting itself was rather vague about it.

Thanks for the warm welcome. :hiya:

I've vowed to cease creating new threads until after my at-sat : November 6th is the date set for my test in hawaii..

but afterwards.. if everything turns out ok, I've decided I'm going to start "The Official Raydon Thread", which will consolidate all future Raydon nonsense into 1 easily accessible and equally unorganized area for entertainment purposes only.

:) I bet you all can't WAIT.:laff:

Everyone who is not a CTI graduate will have to go through Basics, which is 5 weeks long.

then..when basics is over...

Terminal is another 6 weeks

Tracon is like another 8 weeks

Center is another 12 weeks

I think tower and TRACON should be reversed... TRACON is about 5-6 weeks and tower is about 8 weeks.

Also, anyone going to an up/down will eventually have to return to OKC for about 4 weeks for radar training.

12 additional weeks? Why does center require twice as long to train for? Are the job skills twice as complex and the pay twice as much as well?

I was thinking of going to terminal anyway, just curious about what there is such a disparity between training programs.....

Yes, in most cases, kinda.

1. Center initial Academy training IS NOT 12 more weeks than Tower/TRACON. More like 4 weeks (plus / minus)
2. Center OJT trainig IS longer, a year to more longer.
3. Centers are level 11 and 12 facilities, so compared to a level 6 or 7, it's kinda double salary.

I took the test with vyper1278 on 10/10. How is it the 10/09 guys got their scores back last week, but we're still holding out here in limbo? I know that the score is just the first step, and that it could take a while before I even hear anything from the FAA, but this waiting game is nerve-racking!

You're just took your At-Sat test last week and are in Pubnat4? I took mine over a month ago, so I figured Pubnat4 testing would have been finished a while ago. Also, I got my score the next day, so I'm not sure what the problem is there.

Sounds like we won't be seeing any geopref emails until later than November. I seriously doubt the FAA can crank them all out in a matter of a few weeks....

Yep, our PUBNAT4 testing actually went past my week and just finished this past Friday in Peachtree City, GA. From what I've been reading on here, we've got until at least January before we even get any information, and there's a chance we'll be bundled with PUBNAT3.

Jerms I am so glad to hear that you havent received your either. I was getting really worried that something went wrong with mine. Wasnt really interested in having to retest.

Same here. I looked back at the calendar and realized how impatient I am, regardless of what the Robinson Aviation guys said about them being posted by last Thursday. With scores being posted within 7-10 business days, we technically aren't supposed to even START finding out our scores until Tuesday... with next Monday being the late date. If I don't hear back by Monday, I'll be calling.
