Does It Really Matter....?

Yea, I know it is way early, but on a whim I checked the Monte Carlo for NJC '08 and right now for:

3 nights: 10/19-10/21 $349

just down the street at Excalibur they are showing

3 nights: 10/19-10/21 $243/$303 depending on location of room

That is dang close, if not better than this years rates.

I guess we'd better get down to business on finding a location then! ;)

As long as your dates are good, the location ain't no biggy. What's an extra block or two walk....:panic: $270/RT on NWA. The package price is almost indentical to what we paid for this year. So much for inflation...:D

I made reservations at the Westin, $179 per night, with tax, $413 total
Check-In 19-October, Check-out 21-October

This year I actually have to purchase airplane tickets instead of just driving from California.

Yes, i am....depends on where we can find our meeting space though.

I would think we'd be making the decision in February.

just came across a rate for the Excalibur.....

$71 per night.....10/19-21

Shoot, I paid that to stay at the Motel6 in '05.

Personally after seeing both places (stayed in the excalibur) I'd spend the extra green to stay at the Monte. The Excalibur is shaped like a box, the cheap rooms would look into the box. At least at the Monte you'll have a view of a construction site, instead of the pigeons in the casino roof.

We may be back at the Monte Carlo, but saving $150 for some could be a big plus. That could be a good chunk of the plane ticket.

After staying at the Condo with the group two years ago, there could be no worse. The construction site you see from the MC was a big hole in the ground and they were pounding concrete 24 hours a day. No sleep at all.....:banghead:

Yeah but you got to room up with this way cool dude right? RIGHT JUSTIN?? :laff:

Plus the view of McCarren airport was priceless!

Monte for us next year too(Or wherever the main crowd is). The view was decent at the Ex, but that was it. Plus, I paid extra for that view too. Also enjoyed befriending Justin and PacMan.

I never said anything bad about the people in said room. And I really apreciated the view of the airport. The first thing I did was gawk out the window, and play anet geek. Doood there's a DL 757 with winglets in the new paint doood!

I totally agree. Money is going to be the big issue for me this year, yet again :D.

I'll be living in Dallas on a part-time job so I'll really try and scrounge up everything I can and saving $150 would be really good for me. I don't really care where I stay at (we only need somewhere to pass out right? :p). The only thing that would suck about staying at another hotel than the group would be the distance away.

However, I still think airfare is going to be the major expense.

I'll pay what I have to pay. I'm not going to let a few bucks stop me from having a good time!
