I think things are pretty tense right now in Thailand. That flight school you're referring to in Bali looked sketchy IMO

Yes , I heard dodgy things about that school in Bali.

Most Thai nationals do there flight training overseas, a few flying clubs in thailand, mostly ppl stuff. There was so king air co pilot job in Singapore a while ago. If you fancy adventure try Susi Air in Indonesia.

I'll be going to Thailand next year, and I'll be looking for a way to keep flying (more on the side than as a full-time job). Will FAA CML/CFI count for anything there? What might I be able to do to keep current (and maybe even build some hours)?

There's a few descent flying clubs in Thailand, so at least you can keep current.

Don't know a lot about Thailand other than living there and what it's like. Just keep searching for jobs available via all resources and see what comes up. That's how I landed this job in Indonesia.
