I'm just curious on what others thing of picking up open time. Of course, it goes without saying that:
You would never pick up open time if there were furloughs.
For those that don't know - open time is basically lines of flying that the company has scheduled to complete that Company hasn't built into the bids, and as such can be "picked up" or swapped by line pilots on their days off for 1.5x your pay rate.
Generally speaking, if the line pilots don't pick it, it will get assigned to a reserve, if a reservist cannot pick it up a pilot will be junior manned (ie asked 'nicely' to fly into their day off to do the flying). If there isn't anyone to junior man, the company would have to cancel the flight.
This poll is also anonymous.
