Hey guys, check out this shot!!

http://www.airliners.net/open.file/570962/L/

I was over at APA here in Denver the other day just taking pictures of planes doing touch n goes when I saw this guy coming in a bit low. Well he got lower and lower and just barely made it. The mains hit the ground about 10 feet into the runway. As soon as he made his base to final turn I was saying to myself "go around" but he kept on coming. His next time around was WAY higher!

Looks like what one of my students did to me last week during a power off 180 in a C182RG.....the student was also a citation pilot, so there was no way he was going to cave and show a weakness to low time CFI by adding a few inches of manifold, despit my pleas on short final.

Nice photo!

I almost did that one time while practicing short field landings during my PPL training. Really brings out the oh s%it in ya.

SNA boys - we have all done approaches like that trying to make club kilo!!

I think every pilot has had landings like this - even though some pilots would argue - no one is perfect!

You know, the thing that sticks out the most in my memory besides not being able to hold the camera due to the adreniline was I swear I heard the stall horn as soon as he flew over the airport fence.

Brick one! HA!

Pitch up, power up, clean up, the runway will still be there later.

Wow, JCers have a pretty big presence over at a.net. That picture is the #1 most viewed picture over there now.

Yeah, my girlfriend just pointed that out to me... I have had a few #1 pictures but that one seems to be doing pretty well. Maybe I can hang on to the top spot?!? Too bad I overexposed the shot.

I am starting to get tired of taking pictures of planes though, I wish there was a site like that for mammals or somthing like that. I think there is some serious coin to be made out there for sites such as these. There are so many new digital cameras out there that produce great shots. I need to find a place for my hummingbird and horse photos.

You've got incredible photos. I'm pretty much at the point where I just look at your new submissions and that's about it.

The forums over there aren't worth the subsequent spike in my diastolic blood pressure!

Haha, Thanks Doug, I can't get into the forums there either. It seems they are mostly highschool kids that think they know how to run an airline. Every now and then they get some good rumors going that turn out to be true but it's rare.

Here is one of my favorites as of late.

It's a contrail shot of a DL 764 (notice the raked wingtips) but the thing that was so cool to me was the 3rd contrail forming off of either the APU exhaust which would make sense or maybe from the APU inlet since the contrail is offset a bit? There seems to also be alot of other vapor being left off of the wings in the wake too!

I think that was the first time I've ever seen a 764.

You should start hummingbirdsandhorses.net. I'll go in on it with you, it could be the next Yahoo

. That would be a little ironic since I'm deathly allergic to horses, but you could do all the actual picture taking, I'll just cash the checks...

Oh yeah, Doug, let me know when you get a DEN trip again, I will try and get out there and get some shots for you.

Awesome!

Your photos absolutely rock. I'd love to host them, but you've got a bigger audience over at a.net by a long shot, I think. But if you need server space, lemme know because it'd be an honor.

I have no idea how you consistent get great photos like that! Sheesh!

Some of the "ER" pilots take pictures while they're on the Atlantic tracks heading west from Europe (well, speaking of heavies:) )

With the RVSM procedures, they're darned near formation flying...

Wow, those are cool I love the inflight shots. My girlfriend's dad actually flies international routes on the 764 for CO. I keep trying to get him to take a camera along but he is afraid of losing it. Some day he will crack and bring one along. He better, he only has 2 years left.

From what I have seen it is hard to get the exposures correct up there and shooting through the thick glass of the cockpit doesn't help much either. There is a guy on airliners.net named Baily that has some great ones inflight. I think he is a 777 FO for singapore? He is a master of that type of shot!

Ok time for sleep!

There is no displaced there, right?

Don't see any problem with landing at the beginning. Gives lots of roll time on the ground if you want.

You're right.

After a.net, my other favorite photo site is trekearth.com
I'd like to see some other photos of yours Tim. I love planes, but I can't be looking at 15 pages of'em at a.net

Post some at trekearth! I'd love to see what you have.
And if you do decide to post them over there. Let us know! I'm sure I'm not the only who'd be interested.
