Here's the problem. If you've truly got "the bug" it's not going to go away.
I remember when I wanted to walk away from it all during some of my darker days but when a plane would fly overhead on arrival, there I was staring into the sky like a freakin' turkey during a rainshower.
If you want to fly, screw it all, GO FLY.
Yeah, it's not the best profession on Earth, but if the fire is there to fly airplanes, it's not going to go away.
