Yo Captain Bob

I loved it!

I flew out of PWM and had a ball. PWM is class C, so radio procedures are a must. Practice areas over the ocean beaches and the mountain lakes... flying up the coast "down east"... up over Mt. Washington and the White Mountains... Tracking radials off of the Kennebunk VOR... Dodgeing TFR's around the "Bush" compound... etc... :) Using lighthouses for "turns around a point" was pretty cool too! ;)

Man I miss flying up there... especially in the fall!

Anyway... the FBO I used was Maine Aviaion. http://www.maineaviation.com/flight.html

MHT! Good times.

So I ask myself, "Self? Why is Worchester pronouned Wista whereas Manchester is pronounced Manchester?"

Methinks the answer to that question lies in the fact that Worcester is in Massachusetts and obviously named by the locals... once we wrap our mind around what that means... then it all begins to make sense. Kinda... ;)

It's more along the lines of Wooster and Manchesta. I just wish there was still service into ORH. It was all of 30 minutes from my house and had cheap fares. The sad story is that when they first started commercial service there the airport drove out all the GA aircraft. They made it very hard for them to get in and out as well as charging large landing fees and tie down rates. Then, when the commercial service bailed (mostly due to lack of passengers and a heavy fog belt that hung around the airport) the GA people didn't come back. The airport is all but dead now.
