Yes, the headset question!

excellent. i can wear it on the Right or the Left side of my head, and everyone says it is very crisp and clear. it picks up voice very well, and i don't need to squelch set high, quite low is all i need. it is on a flexible boom (not the wire type)

telex 50d

Updated question.

How would you rate the microphone on your headset? How adjustable, etc.

I'm looking more specifically for information on the Pilot USA and Lightspeeds but any review will do.

Thanks again guys. :rawk:
I'd rate the microphone pretty good on my lightspeed. I got the $400 ANR lightspeed. Works like a charm, loud and clear every time. The ear cups are huge though so I'm wondering if I can find a Telex on the cheap.

JUST DO IT!

I own the Lightspeed 20XLc headset. They're fugly but work really well, IMO.
On top of that, Lightspeed's customer service is outstanding.

I've owned my pair for four years. I returned them to Lightspeed and got them back as if new. They replaced the boom mic, ear seals, head seals, cables and volume console (even batteries to go along w/ it :) ). It was as if new, all for $0.00.

I've decided I'm going to buy the DC 13.4s, they are on sale for less than $270 dollars.

If I don't like them 100% I will return them.

If I do like them, I'll keep them around until I have enough money to be spending on on fancier headset, and keep this one for my pax. I figure the 13.4 should go along way to help my hearing, even without ANR.

*Yawn*

:D

JD....You've been around LONG enough to realize that a thread two months dead is considered necroposting and isn't cool.

Hope you've found your answer!

FYI....I use the DC ANR and I have no problems. Great customer service....replace parts for free......good stuff!

"JD....You've been around LONG enough to realize that a thread two months dead is considered necroposting and isn't cool."

But it's my thread, and I am still searching for answers. I don't see a reason to start a whole new thread. Now that I've finally made a decision, I don't think there will be any more posts here.

What did you decide to go with, out of curiosity?

Or if I really like them, maybe I'll upgrade them to ANR down the road.

I own both Lightspeed (15XL & 25XL) and Bose X, but now I am starting to think outside the "box", and am considering these:

$349, and available in yellow or black finish.

If you can deal with ear plugs you will find these or the more expensive Clarity Aloft will give you the equivalent "ANR", but are also light weight.

30 day money back guarantee too. I'm going to give them a try.

I have a thread running about these phones and the Clarity Aloft over at the AOPA forums.
