Yes, another pilot logbook correction thread...

Okay, let me first say I did search this... I'm on the side of using green-out rather than the line through a mistake in your logbook. I started using green out when I soloed back in 04 or so because that's what my instructor did at the time. I feel it's better to continue what you're doing rather than change the format. But that's just me, and I hope I'm not wrong. Or, rather I hope it doesn't cost me a job or something in the future. Anyways, long story short I ran out of green-out or whatever you want to call it and I can't seem to find it anywhere. Sportys doesn't have it, and neither does any of the other office and pilot shops I've tried. Does anyone know where I can get some mroe of this stuff?

I would highly, highly, highly recommend that you start using a single line through your mistakes with an initial next to it. It's a widely accepted method. White out/green out/scribbling things out makes it look like you're trying to hide something illegal. If you do that in a MX log, you're gonna find yourself in deep trouble depending on the company and if the FAA finds out.

I'd change how you do it at this point, you have a legit explanation.

I'm not trying to argue or be mean or anything but what's my lagit explanation? That I found out it was a bad idea really late in my training?

Yes. At 1000 hours I made a 300hour correction in my book for incorrect p2p timekeeping. I found an error and corrected it. Nothing to hide.

Exactly. We've all made mistakes like this in the past, and if you tell an interviewer, "You know, my flight instructor told me to do it like this, but I eventually was told otherwise and realized it was a bad idea so I stopped doing it. You can see that all my corrections after X point were done in this fashion," you'll be fine.

No. It's that he doesn't like it personally more than likely. Just expect to have to explain why it's there. It will come up in an interview if it's seen.

Wow, that must have been a pain to fix. I'm guessing you just lined through the stuff instead of the greenout.

That's the truh, I just hate the way the line through looks... And a lot of guys I use to work worth and some of my previous instructors used greenout. I hate to say it but if everyone around you does something it makes it seem alright.

Do whatever you want.

Like I said, don't ever do it with a MX book.

Doesn't matter, I'm not making it that far in the interview anyway. I've already been blacklisted by a has-been by this point.

Call this place. Their website sucks, but they used to have it. My grandparents had a store in town and they bought all their office supplies from here. And they used the green-out often.

Correct it in any way that you want so long as it looks neat. A single line through it is the preferred way of making corrections according to the FAA so you can never go wrong there.

But I think the idea that you'll be in any kind of serious jeopardy from using white out is laughable.

Have to go with JTRAIN on this one. I too onced used green out until I realized the FED don't like it. I just strike it out and right the correct number in.

As said prior do it on a MX record or other aircraft paper work and the FAA will be not be happy at best.
