XJET Leather jackets

Afternoon Fellas, and ladies
Quick question. Looking to get a leather jacket, so I called CINTAS and they had no idea who to go through to get an "approved" leather jacket. Anyone have any info on where we can purchase these at?
 
I look like a dork in the blazer too, I dress for comfort within the confines of the published uniform policy.
 
The blazer looks way more professional than the "fighter pilot style leather jacket"

But I forget that in this industry people don't want to be professionals.

Good quality, better prices. Well-known in USAF circles, pretty much everybody who passes through Incirlik AB in Turkey has Pop's modify their issue A-2s, adding silk linings, underarm gussets, gun holsters, etc.

Their calfskin is quite nice, a buddy of mine at SkyWest had them make him one (did I mention they're custom-made to your measurements?) instead of shelling out big $$$ for the "company approved" leather jacket.

I have no problem wearing the blazer, in fact I think it looks sharp as well, but the in-laws have offerd to buy it for me for an early b-day present so I am not going to pass that offer up:panic:

Agreed.

HOWEVER: after last winter of toting around the blazer and an overcoat - I'm going with the leather jacket.

You can't go wrong with Pop's...they rule. They did all the mods on my A-2 and I have a wallet that I bought in 1999...it still looks brand new.
 
And the trench coat looks any better? Since when does dressing like sherlock holmes or a streaker from 1972 look professional. If my company gave me the option of wearing slacks and a polo to work I'd probably take it. Plenty of business people dress like that every day. Does dressing like some kind of naval officer make me fly any better? No.
 
What is the point? To instill some kind of confidence in the passengers? If that's the case I think the pax should "get real". Why is it that we all bag on people so hard for wearing a full uniform for their flight training yet when someone so much as proposes a change to the sacred traditional uniform at the airlines everyone cries foul? Maybe wearing the airline uniform was once a symbol of some great accomplishment but I think those days are behind us. Plenty of corporate flight departments have normal business attire as pilot uniforms. I'm pretty sure those guys make a lot more and have just as prestigious a job as I do. Then again I guess we can all be thankful I'm not the one writing uniform policies, I just do what I'm told.

We can't all pick up chicks as easily as you.

The playing field has to be leveled somehow.

Until you wanna do something on an overnight. Then you've either gotta pack an extra jacket or go out with the overcoat looking like the aforementioned flasher. Leather jacket, all you have to do is pop the epaulets off and go. I like the easy of use, plus the less I have to pack, the better.
 
The up and coming new regional pilots had better concern themselves more with gaining meaningful experience and less with their appearance. I don't care what kind of jacket you wear, if you wear a backpack, wear your ipod in the terminal or have frosted hair. Just don't crash and kill me because you can't fly a visual approach or couldn't hear an ATC instruction or your captain because you were listening to your ipod while flying. For the record... the leather jacket is more practical, less to carry and pack on a trip.
 
Couple of things...

First off, on the ipod comment. We had a 59 year old offline (same parent company though) jumpseater on a 35 minute leg today. He was actually a must ride but took the jumpseat to get an extra passenger on board. He walks in, hands me his jumpseat form, pulls out the jumpseat and doesn't say anything else. He then takes out an IPOD, puts in his ear pieces and proceededs to blare some of the worst country I have ever heard. He plays his IPOD right through the taxi and take off and landing. We get to the gate at the outstation and he takes out ONE ear piece, says "thanks for the ride", and gets up and leaves.

It ain't just the new guys. (And I bet his hair would have been frosted and spiked, but it was already white and he didn't have enough left to spike.)

Secondly, the flash coat vs. leather jacket... I can't pull off the leather. Personally, I think it looks goofy, but then again, that is just me. However, I do agree that it is easier to carry just that then the blazer, a flasher coat AND a polar fleece. Up until our new uniform we were only provided a blazer/overcoat option, but could get the leather. Now, we can ONLY get the leather, which has stopped most people from getting their new uniforms. Messed up for sure.
