Checkout this thread...

Writtens==see second thread

You will want to get as many of the writtens done as soon as possible...I am going to ATP...Just check out some of the post ....tons of info here...

You will want to take the following:

IRA
FII
CAX
FIA
FOI

You can add the AGI to be eligible for "Gold Seal Instructor" I think.. Not sure 100% what that does for you, however, I would think it would look better on a resume..

You'll probably be asking how long it took everyone to study for these tests.. So, I'll contribute my own study times..

IRA - 1 week hard studying (4+ hours a day)
CAX - > 1 week with decent study time..
I'll have to update this thread when I study for the others.. However, I am anticipating a week for the FIA/AGI and 1 or 2 days for the FOI...

One thing I didn't know which is busting my "rumplestilskin" at the moment is that the IRA and the FII are from the same test bank..I'm having to go back and restudy most of the IRA stuff to take the FII this week.. Hopefully Thursday.. I got about ~2 hours of studying in tonight.. You can take them on the same day.. As are the FIA/AGI.. Then the FOI is no big deal, most of the people who are taking all the writtens before hand are having to do mostly rote memorization in order to be "ready" which, the FOI, comming from a test bank of ~140 questions, can easily be commited to memory in less than a day of good studying..

Hey Tram, you can get a "sign-off" from that Gleim software as long as you answer at least every question right once you said?

That's pretty cool since you then don't have to study all this stuff, and then go to the local FBO and try and get an instructor to sign you off!

A friend of mine is an instructor down @ KHVN, but he always seems to be busy, so I don't want ot bother him.

Hey, on another note, when you did your interview w/ATP, what is the dress code they want you to follow? I'm flying out to Phoenix next month to do mine, just have to knock some of the rust off since I haven't flown in a while.

Good morning, Tram:

First of all, I have to apologies about my little knowledge about FAA written test. If someone can tell what are those stands for, I would appreciate. At mean time, I planned not to study those tests till I passed my PPL check ride.

Hey Bushpilot-

Yeh, the Gleim's will sign you off after you answer everyquestion in the test bank, correctly, atleast once.. A good buddy of mine is an instructor at M22 and he is also busy, so I didn't mess with having him sign me off.. Gleim's came in handy, just for that purpose, not to mention it's great to study with..

As far as the interview, I've yet to take it.. I was supposed to take it 2 weeks ago but had to reschedule due to personal conflicts (my dad is a Capt. at FedEx and he was having his 6 month sim ride's that week), and he wanted to go down to ATL with me to check out ATP, so I'm holding off.. Until he can fly down with me....

Adreamer- No sweat man, I didn't know what half of them meant until about 5 days ago..

Here they are in no special order..

FII - Flight Instructor Instrument
CAX - Commerical Airplane (exam?)
AGI - Advanced Ground Instructor
FIA - Flight Instructor Instrument
IRA - Instrument Rating - Airplane
FOI - Fundamentals of Instructing..

Like I said the FII and IRA are from the same test bank so take them the same day or really close together, as are the AGI and FIA..

Also, I wouldn't worry too much about the FOI, it appears to be really easy, however, I would expect the instructors to know most people are just going to use rote memorization for it and would make myself familair with the concepts of the FOI, I've got a Sociology Degree so, it should be somewhat easy to do.

i only had the instrument written done before i started and had PLENTY of time to get the rest done. don't worry if you don't get them all done before you go.

Yeh, I think there will be time.. I just want to have as much "accomplished" as I can..

Thanks for the info Tram. Just wondering if anyone out there can tell me about the interview w/ATP. Business casual, suit & tie, or what?

Business casual.. the interview consists of a short oral.. written test.. then I was taught a lesson on VMC and performed the lesson in the sim. Very basic ppl knowledge type questions and in the sim they're just trying to see if you are teachable. Search the forum there have been a lot of replies on the interview process lately.

Hope this helps..

Buisness Causual.. Hmm.. Did you tuck your shirt in?

I guess it's a good thing I didn't show up in a Tshirt and some ratty cargo's.. Perhaps I'll throw on a polo and some ratty cargo's..

Anyway guys- After talking to Chad about the interview, it truly seems like something no one really needs to fear.. After all, Chad and many others have said, YOU are interviewing THEM.. Your an additional $35K atleast to them.. Not to mention the $2K plus in testing fee's..

The interview process sorta weeds those who are serious from those who are not...

I really need to re-schedule my interview..
