Wright Amendment- right or wrong?

Thought this would be a great place to ask since there is a great mix of people here from Legacies to Commuters.

It seems to be heating up especially in the local press. What do you think, free bump to SWA or AA strong-arming?

The one statement I've heard so far that is least biased for either camp is that orignally the law protected the cities bonds they took out for the building of DFW so if it was repealed the taxpayers are getting short-changed but then again the same happens all the time with tollways. They are built, few years go by they get paid off but then never opened to free travel. If Love isn't set free from regulation now then is it going to be another 20 years till its time? Your thoughts......

So friggin' what? What's the deal with a Federal law restricting trade to protect some bond holders? Open Love up now.
 
I agree, I want Love set free. It just seems that most of what the DFW side is saying its just free money for SWA, I say let the market decide feely. It is pretty stupid when you pay double the average rates to fly from DFW then the same leg back is half as much.
 
Just signed a request to repel the Wright Admendment at my flight school yesterday. Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchinson is leading the cause. This admendment is ancient and needs to be changed.

BTW does anyone know the landing fees at DFW for 737s?

How about depart Love sequence in DFW approach, do a touch and go then to your destination? It would be a fun flight for the pilots, not sure for the pax. It would get around the Wright Amendment, and save the cost fo the terminal rent. Slight more fuel burn too.

Just my .02 idea....
