word that a PUBNAT8 is coming up.

Good afternoon everyone. I just received an email from a source inside the FAA today and thought I would share. Below is a quota from the email... Any questions please let me know.

there IS going to be another PUBNAT8 coming up! Below is quote from a source I have. If anyone have any questions please let me know.




"You will need to watch our website for the next open general public announcement which is tentatively scheduled to open in July 2009."

erm.. a "pubnat" is only for the public looking at a national location. prefix "pub" for public and "nat" for through out the nation.

so saying that there is a "pubnat for the public" is redundant.

That is good news, but I'll believe it when I see it.

I'm waiting on FOL/academy date, and it's still hard to believe I'm going to be an ATC till I'm actually at the darn academy.

I have a date but no FOL so I am there with you. Really want that e-mail.
 
I feel the same way!

I'm pubnat 2 and still waiting for my FOL. I did have a medical hang up but thats cleared up. Can I just get to the Academy already! I'll believe it when I actually get there.

Once you get to the academy you still won't believe you are going to be an ATC until you get to your facility. Once at the facility, you won't believe it until you are certified... :)
 
I can kinda second the notion of another pubnat. While I don't have it quoted per se, while I was attending the Chicago PEPC on the 24th of this month one of the ladies from OKC made brief mention of one last announcement for FY09.

I think that's a good estimate. They'll be getting PUBNAT 3/4 folks in by beginning of October at latest sometime, then PUBNAT 5/6 folks in early next year maybe, so probably start another PUBNAT process late in this year so once testing and all is done, they won't be too backed up with getting final PUBNATers into the academy.
 
Only on this message board could there be two threads of "credible" information titled "No more pubnats" and "pubnat coming soon". Our rumor mill is broken.
 
well HR said pubnat8 would open the first week of july after i got off them about not reciving a geopref email about pubnat5 so thats good news for those that have been waiting for a while for a new pubnat to open.
 
I suspected there might be one more that would place people in fiscal year 2011. With an opening date in July the timing would put PUBNAT8-ers pretty close to being cleared right before the end of fiscal year 2010.

Just don't wait arround for anymore after that.
 
No, your rumor mill is dead on. That's sort of the problem.

And for all of you "expect academy in october" folks, I would say, expect a call on a wednesday evening asking you to be in Oklahoma on monday. They pulled that one on me. Who knows. They're as predictable as meteors on a sunday night.

Just checking in. I'm sorry to hear so many are still getting the run around. I'm pretty sure we could use a few competent folks to show up in Norfolk about now.

Agreed. I want to believe HR saying "first week in July"...but that means I would have to forget that they lied about "first week of March."

Everyone is forgetting, HR does NOT set the dates for the announcements. The ATO in DC is the one who decides who/when to hire.
 
I realize that...but they are still our source of information...

...and it is a bad source.
