I had a healthy respect for the UCMJ, which does not look fondly on an officer having relations with an enlisted troop. The fact that the particular enlisted troop worked in the office that was the most familiar with the UCMJ did not escape my notice.
At the watering hole in Valdosta, where all the Moody AFB types hung out, how the convesation really went:
A1C: "So, Glenn, what do you do?"
Me: "I'm in the Air Force, I work out at the base..."
A1C: "Really?! Me too! What office?"
Me: "I'm an LT in the Public Affairs office"
A1C: "Cool! I'm an Airman 1st Class, I work in the JAG office."
Me: "I've got to be going now..."
How the conversation should have gone:
A1C "So, Glenn, What do you do?"
Me: "I work for the government. Mostly a lot of really boring paperwork. What do you do?"
A1C "Really? I work for the government too, I'm in the Air Force! I work in the JAG office out at the base..."
Me: (interrupting) "Really, let's not talk about work, you look really great tonight, can I buy you a drink?"
