While listening to Chicago center today I heard the pilot of a Baron call in with a wing fire. He said he was going to go to Gary, and I was just wondering if anyone by chance had any more details about what happened.

I don't know, while GYY is sketchy, fire scares the crap out of me in an airplane. I think I'd take my chances in a gun battle over a fire battle.

Fire on a plane, if it doesn't scare the piss out of you, it really should.

I'd rather brave the SAM emplacements, AAA batteries and small arms fire on arrival into Gary.

Just kidding. The idea of being trapped in a metal tube as a fire is burning just a few feet away is terrifying. Yeah, I know, slip so that the wind takes the flames away, but I'm still going to be pissing my pants.

Maybe that would help put the fire out.
