Of course, horizon would be one of the best regionals to work for... How does one apply to horizon? I didn't see anything on there site...
 
Keep watching the website here and either I'll have the official announcement, or more than likely that bastard CRJDriver will have it first (CJ is the most awesome at getting hiring news first, even at my own company).

I'll talk to the ACP's today, but the app should open around Mid-March, the last update I got.

It'll be on https://careers.horizonair.com/Horizon-Main.asp, when it does. Just keep your eyes open on the "Jobs Available" section, and if you ever have questions, feel free to ask. I'm here to help :)

Did you try Colgan/Mesaba/Pinnacle?

Edit: I would say it is worth applying here as you probably wouldn't have a class date before April, when there will be a much better idea of where the company is headed.

while agree 100% just because one person does not take the job because of less then optimal pay it doe not mean they (the company) will not fill the job with someone who will. So while you and I may stand for better pay; others will not so who is the chump? the person who takes the job with less pay, or the person who does not take the job because of principal (ie. pay for flight time)? I am finding it is the person who does not take the job. The only person who loses out is the person who does not take the job is the chump. While you might say that we pilots are degrading our own profession others will be moving up the ladder with or with out you. Until you realize this you will always be down on your luck and other will be out to get you, but in reality you are the one who is short cutting yourself.

Fly high, and keep the sunny side up!

It is not that he may take the job that I have the issue with. It is the attidtude, as Ive already said. I understand people need to work and sometimes that means swallowing your pride and taking a job that isnt a great fit. I just hate hearing people say things like "pay is not really important", sure TPIC is worth something, but a generation of pilots with that mentality, is a sure way to speed up the race to the bottom.

Take the job if it is a good fit, but do so with the midset to improve the working conditions for you and the next guy who has to apply. Don't simply accept, turn a blind eye and get out. Thats all I am saying.
 
Don't be mislead. CommutAir is actively hiring and you may need to chit chat with PilotforHire about some things. With that said if you still want to come here, the time is now. Besides a few scheduling problems with bids this place has improved tremendously. Pay and quality of life have definitely gotten better.

I have talked with pilotforhire, while I would go to other airlines, I want to go to CommutAir the most.

Get off your high horse. The fact is that ALL first year pay is pretty close, except for GL, which he excluded.

Again, if you read what I said, it is not the pay I am upset with, it is the attitude. I personally do not care what he makes, it makes no impact on me whatsoever. However, I may have a stake in his and all pilots mentality regarding what it means to be paid as a professional. When people say "I dont care what I am paid" that is an issue, and it is not one that is contained to a small subsection, it is a belief that is growing, pushed be regionals offering up "flight time" as compensation since they are a "stepping stone" to majors. Sorry, not buying it, flight time is not compensation, it is the job you are paid to do, money is compensation. Doctors dont accept grattitude as payment, I am sure they appreciate it, but they are still highly compensated for protecting your life.

The real question is, why are you OK with all regional pay being sub-standard? Since when is "everyone else is doing it" an acceptable excuse? And why are you upset that someone, WHO ISNT EVEN A PRO PILOT, wants pilots to expect and demand better for themselves?

I basically agree with your opinion about pay however using this logic you would have to direct your comment to any pilot that flys as a CFI or an airline... and a few 135 operators. The list is long and to single out one newbie is as unfair as the compensation itself. The fact is that anyone who has accepted first year pay (and arguably second, third forth and so on) is the problem. It's just my opinion, and I'm not speaking to you directly but when I hear any airline (etc) pilot preach to new pilots about not taking the job due to pay it makes it hard to take those people serious.

No offense, just sayin';)

Non taken, and pay is the reason I have not made the jump myself. I can't justify cutting my families QOL so I can live the dream.

That said, I dont meant to single out anyone in particular, I simply want to point out that the mentality he is displaying is destructive to the profession and is shared by many.

It is not destructive, because if I had the mentality that I have to make $40000 a year, I would end up leaving aviation... Do I want to get paid $20000 a year? No, but it is what I have to do to further my education and skills, so trying not to worry about it is the best thing I can do...
 
On the plus side, logging Turbine Multi Time, and getting paid $20,000 a year is a lot better than paying $40,000 a year to go to school.

wow its people like you that will continue to drag this profession lower and lower .... If you don't care about pay just volunteer your services work for free someone will hire you !
 
Give Piedmont a try, I know they have hired with a lot lower time then you in the last few months. I believe PSA is also still actively hiring pilots. A friend of mine just got hired on at Express Jet, he is just over 900tt and won't be assigned a class date until he hits 1000tt.
 
I interviewed with expressjet I'm just waiting to see if I got the job, and I have 2 more interviews lined up...
