9-5 Ruins Lives
So stepping away from all of the troubles that plague our industry for a moment, I wanted to share what keeps me coming back to work each week (besides a halfway decent paycheck).
My wife and I hit 3 countries this year, which was an impressive feat in and of itself since I have been on reserve for over two years and have very little time off. Australia, New Zealand and Spain pins were added to our giant map on the wall.
So to those considering this career, if travel is your thing it is still very much worth it when you find yourself relaxing on the Mediterranean, sipping champagne in first class, exploring the back alleys of a many thousand year old village, eating weird food from a menu you can't read...the list goes on. Besides, I can't imagine actually forking out $24k for a first class to seat to Sydney
Catching the bus - Malaga, Spain
Nerja, Spain
Sunrise - Nerja, Spain
Nerja, Spain
Readying for the morning catch - Nerja, Spain
Adios Nerja!
And now a few from down under...
Almost there!
Akaroa, New Zealand
Outside of Queenstown, NZ
Milford Sound, NZ
Franz Josef Glacier, NZ
Not a bad view - Abel Tasman National Park, NZ
Christchurch Airport, NZ
Only way to fly - UAL first class on a 747 - somewhere over the Pacific
Street art - Melbourne, Australia
Pretty - Yarra Valley, OZ
The happy couple

So keep to the grind and keep building those hours. It is my sincere hope this industry turns around some day and we can all get back to (and start for the noobs) hopping around the globe and enjoying the fruits of our labor.
Cheers!
