Why I love lightspeed headsets

My mic wind screen was torn to shreds. I called up lightspeed, asking how much for a new one, and they sent it out the next day free of charge. I know there have been threads on this, but still putting my vote for LS customer service.

As would Bose, DC, etc. ;)

I fried mine while trying to setup a custom battery setup using 18650 cells, got on the phone with the rep expecting a hefty bill, but was instead provided with a RMA number and got a new headset at my door two weeks later.

...I now enjoy 60 hours of bluetooth enabled ANRness on my headsets on one charge! (Used to only get ~10 hours on a pair of AAs)

Thanks lightspeed!

I'm still a fan of Bose, but then again I've never tried the Lightspeed. That's awesome that their are still companies that value their customers!

Every time (which isn't often) I have contacted them, they have been great. And the trade up program lightspeed offers is awesome. Do your david clarks do that? :D

...Lightspeed

(now wheres my plug check at... )

They certainly do - it's called "eBay." :laff:

Seriously though, I've read some glowing reports on the Lightspeeds. I'm just afraid that if I try a set, I'll be compelled to buy it!

Bose are quieter in cruise, but the lightspeed (and those magnesium cups) knock out a heck of a lot more of the low end during takeoff/landing. That's been my experience anyway.

I'm getting mine in a few days, been using a Bose X, the ANR is impressive in the Bose, maybe because they are so ineffective when the ANR is off ?
Anyways, be able to listen to music on those long X-Country is certainly a bonus, and the Zulu has newer technology. Heck, my X is 10 years old !

DC charged me for a mic the last time, it was around $70. They are the 11.4's converted with headset incs unit. (They sent the mic)
I am using the bose qc15's and ufly, and love them! They weigh less than 1/2 the nearest competitor, and seem like the quietest headset I have ever used.
Sound great as regular mp3 headsets also, for the deadhead home!

my only beef with the lightspeed was that it wasn't TSO approved.

Yeah but after a few check airmen and a fed jumpseater are all using the same non TSO'ed headset because it's "so cool", I decided I'd just get the damn headset I wanted.

I borrowed a Zulu a few months ago for a side by side comparison. I ended up busting the shirt clip that is on the cord.

I called them up and not only did they send out a new one for free, they looked up the owner and sent it directly to him all free of charge. I was very pleased, and out of a bad situation!

So I take it, you're rocking the Zulu? I've been contemplating getting one, but I didn't want to get it and then have to fork over another G for a different one if/when I get hired (because of the TSO issue).

Another reason why I love lightspeed. Customer service. We are in the process of researching headsets for the company and so far, the marketing from Lightspeed has been very responsive and good to work with. They strive to maintain a good relationship with pilots.

I love lightspeed headsets too...

I sent my headset in for repair, and they sent me practically a brand new headset with a new headset bag. They really know how to take care of their customers.

I really wish I would have taken down the serial number of the headset I sent in and compare it with the one I got back. I wouldn't doubt that I got a brand new off the shelf headset.

Great customer service.
