Why be an Instrument Pilot? Ridiculous ! ! !

I almost lost trust to my flight instructor. He doesn't calculate the weight and balance before every flight training, and he doesn't like me to calculate that either. When he do the pre-flight, he will just walk around, and never really check the pitot heat and NAV light. He even done something extremely dangerous and almost cause serious problem during a flight.

When he flying the airplane, he is over relax, he even make fun with other aircraft in the CTAF frequency.

The problems that I mentioned above, they can be solve. I will check the airplane carefully every time. I really hate his attitude !

However, here is something I can not deal with.

When the weather turns into actual IFR, he always give me some excuse to cancel the flight. The problem is I checked the weather every time and there is way far behind the limitation. I think he is lazy !
How can I can become a really good pilot if I never fly into actual IFR weather?
The only IFR weather I ever get into is cloud. The fact is I feel much more comfortable in the cloud than under the stupid hood !

What he always says during training is: " If this is actual IFR ! If this is actual IFR! IF THIS IS ACTUAL IFR !" What I feel is he identifies the IFR weather as an emergency situation, and he never gonna get into it, unless he have to !

I believe the reason to become an instrument rated pilot is not to deal with the emergency situation such as IFR weather.

Not sure I understand completely what you are saying, but with what I see it is rather simple.

You have an instructor you are not happy with.

Tell the instructor your concerns.

If he does not address them specifically, change instructors.

:yeahthat: I got the same thing from that post.
He should change instructors, heck mine would always call me and say" Hey there is going to be some hard IFR this afternoon, get your butt to the airport, and lets go fly." I had like 15 hrs of actual by the time I took my IR checkride...I thought that was really great that my CFII did that..He would always make me do the filing but under his name. That was the best way to learn I think.

Why would you be getting instrument training if you can't complete a preflight?

I suspect your instructor is suffering a communication breakdown with you.

Of course I can complete a preflight. That was a new model of aircraft for me, thus he demonstrate the pre-flight. Then next day I use the check list to pre-flight I realized he missed soooooo many parts!

Ah!

...you're an instrument rating student?

You never conducted a preflight on an airplane as a private pilot?

Yes, I'm working on instrument now. I never fly Cessna before, that is the reason the first day he show me how to pre-flight a Cessna. Btw, I got the private license in another school.

There are CFI's standing around everywhere. If you don't like your instructor for any reason, get a new one.

As mentioned before, bring up your concerns with him and than change instructors if you are still unhappy. You are paying for training so no use in sticking with a CFI that you do not like.
