Well, I've gone and done it now...
As of today, I'm a new-hire at American Eagle! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif
Last week (8/11) I got an invitation to go interview at AE. So this week, I flew down to Dallas on Monday, and did the interview Tuesday. It was a looong day. Started at the Academy with a sim eval. (takeoff, vectors, hold, ILS 24R@LAX, landing) in a Level D 707 sim @ 0730. Then over to the headquarters for a test with questions from the ATP written, an HR interview, and a technical interview. There were five in my group, and during the time we were doing the interviews, 2 got eliminated. They were pulled aside and we never saw them again. At the end of the day (around 6pm), the three of us that were remaining were told that we passed the interview process and were asked to come back the next day (Wed.) for the company physical. A couple from the other group got eliminated as well. They appear to be taking about half of the people that they interview.
Physical was a long, drawn out process that started around 0745 and we finished about 2pm. They poked and prodded almost everything, and gave us this utterly maddening cognitive test (after which I felt much stupider). Then I flew home to await the decision of the captain's review board who looks over all of the files of the applicants and filters out who they don't want. This morning they called and said the board finished their reviews, and that I was accepted. I should get my class date sometime next week, but it looks like it will be Sept. 13th, pending completion of my background check. Most classes are all ERJ lately.
I'm pretty excited. I don't think its actually sunk in yet. The whole experience was great. Anyways, this probably means that I'll miss Vegas again this year ($500 worth of airline tix down wasted, but oh well)...but at least this time I have a good reason. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/spin2.gif
