CHICAGO - Authorities say three people are injured after a small regional jet struck a maintenance truck on a runway at Chicago's O'Hare International Airport.
No passengers were aboard the United Express jet, operated by SkyWest Airlines. It was traveling from a hangar to a gate with it collided with the truck early Saturday.
Fire Department Chief Joe Roccasalva says the driver of the truck was transported to a hospital in critical condition. Two mechanics from the plane were hospitalized in good condition.

So in all seriousness, who's neglect would this be?

The report says, "three people are injured after a small regional jet struck a maintenance truck"

Which implies it was the jet's fault. My uneducated instinct would be it was more the opposite, because a) its on the tarmac, b) it's much easier to control a pickup! WTFO?

Yeah, I doubt the airplane was chasing the truck down a service road.

Airplanes have the right away at O'Hare if they're on a taxiway, period. It's not possible for the mechanics to be at fault unless they turned down a service road.

Now, whether the company sees it that way is a different story...

I would say the truck was suicidal. It looks like the aircraft tried to miss the truck. Why else would it be so far on the grass. The nosecone looks like it was hit. So maybe they were playing chicken and nobody flinched.

So, uh, was it a slow news day or something?

Seriously, this is about as important as a story that's headlined "Forklift runs into tractor trailer." But because it involves an airplane, it's huge news I guess.
