Where would you move...?

I guess this is the right place for this discussion. Mods feel free to move, if you think otherwise.

Currently living in small town MN, about 50 miles east of Fargo, ND. If all goes well, wife graduates with her RN stuff in December. Beyond 2014, we do not see ourselves living in this town - limited work for me and little flying - or moving to the big city of Fargo.

We are considering staying in the Midwest, since my aging in-laws live in MN. Need to find a town with some good GA - where I can finish my Commercial/CFI stuff and probably find a job instructing or in the corporate world.

Any recommendations? Right now strongly considering Duluth/Superior, St. Cloud and Brainerd, MN (in that order).

Bemidji, the big city. That have a fairly decent sized 135 freight op up there.

I went to graduate school up there. :) My current part-time gig is also in Bemidji ;-) So, I spend a good amount of time up there. We've thought about moving to BJI on a full time basis, but not sure if we want to deal with the harsh winters.

Also from what I hear the market for RN's is pretty saturated up there as both BSU and NTC churn out a good number of nurses per year.

Any one of those three would be great from my perspective for QOL. I've been gone far too long to know what the aviation opportunities are like. Last I was at STC over a year ago it was pretty dead.

I'm currently in Fargo, but I work in the suck. When I was working full time up here, it was for BNSF on the railroad. I will not go back, that was a very arduous schedule to say the least. We're looking at Mid-Atlantic or CA next year. As far as regional commuting, there are quite a few that live up here and commute where ever on Delta. However, their load percentage has gone up significantly, so might be harder to commute the farther you're going. BJI has a couple of awesome flight jobs out there, but here it's basically CFI or commute. Let me know if you need any info on the area. I've been here for about 3 years now.

Thanks, man.

Yeah, we've been in KDTL for almost 3 years. I used to commute to Fargo, everyday. I know that BNSF is looking to hire again, and the pay is pretty decent IIRC.

Not sure if I want to go down the commuter route. Would rather be a CFI or work corporate.

I flew out of STC early April. They had 2 CFI's and they were keeping pretty busy. Plane rates just got higher. I think both STC and KBRD are pretty nice towns and are close enough to the MSP area.

I remember when the FBO had probably 7 planes and the Aero Club had 4 or 5 more.
