Just wondering when everyone got to the first job after flight instructing. I've heard as young as 19 being an FO on a jet. At my current pace I will be at a regional at 22.

I started at my first regional job in when I was 33.

I got all my ratings PPL - CFII/ MEI in about 18 mo. prior to getting hired and haven't looked back since.

Got my CFI when I was 23, instructed 2 1/2 years (see 9/11) and flew the occasional part 135 flight then got hired at a regional at 26.

Still feel that instructing was the best flying I had done, took the most work and was the most rewarding. I'd still do it if my current company allowed it.

Flight instructor at 19.. Flight instructor at 20... Flight instructor at 23! Do you see the light at the end of the tunnel? I don't.

Don't make the mistake of comparing career paths because they're all apples and oranges.

hey i actually started using my CFI when i was 23 so don't feel so bad!

23: freight (flight express represent!)
24: regional
24: regional captain
25: cheaper car insurance!

Most airlines I've seen require you to be atleast 21.
ExpressJet's min age is 18. I've seen a 19 year old FO there myself.
Anyway... midlife career changer... Regional at 34.
