Wheels Up (135 - NetJets spinoff)

I figured this might get a bit more traffic for discussion here...

So a few of my friends have been hired on with Wheels Up. It's basically uses the same concept as NetJets (the founder is former NetJets executive) but with the majority of the fleet being King Air 350.

I don't really know much about NetJets, and therefore can't make any comparison to this company. Can someone take the time to explain to me what it is like to currently work at NetJets (or be one of the furloughed guys), the upside and down - so that I can have a base line?

I'd appreciate the information, thanks.

Well, so far - nowhere :p

I understand there are about 400 furloughed at NJ. And I also understand they are still in contract negotiations. But what I am looking for is information from folks who currently work there or are furloughed about the good and the bad. Doesn't seem like an invitation to a popcorn fest to me, but that's why I ask questions....

Yes GAMA is running the Wheels Up operation, with BRAND SPANKING NEW 350's I walked thru one a few months back with 12 total hours. nice plane!

I see their King Airs at PDK every once in awhile. What is the schedule like at Wheels Up?

What's the story there?

They require more and more members to pay their "membership" fees to subsidize the hourly costs that they charge for the aircraft. If they don't get new members signing up and paying the initiation fees they have to charge much, much more in hourly costs. It's not limited to just Wheels Up though. Most fractional outfits face the same problems.

I'm guessing one thing they don't like about working there, is that they don't work there anymore and are furloughed.

And the pay to fly those KAs is pretty good (from a pilot's perspective). Had 2 friends recently interview and they had good things to say.
