I saw an advertisement in the paper for the ATC school near SAT.

The airport at BAZ needs a tower badlly due to the increased amount of traffic including this schools Helos.

I have had several peopel ask me about being a Controller as a career, and I would like to have some good advice to tell them.

Off topic but...,

I trained out at BAZ with Southern Wings. Traffic has picked up that much?!? When I was there, over 2 years ago, there were only 2 flight schools and business was extremely slow. Very rarely there was ever someone in the pattern with me.

Do you have any other info on this? (I'm sure the site you listed has more info, but where i'm at it's blocked)

That place looks REALLY shady to me. Silver State is not one of the CTI schools so you wouldn't be hired by theFAA, and your only other real option would be contract towers, and you won't be hired there without any previous work experience....IMO the CTO certificate you get there would be pretty much worthless......

I'd stay away.

That's not an approved AT-CTI school. . . stop anyone from losing money at that place.

www.atccti.com is the best place to go.

The FAA has 13 schools that are accredited for AT studies, some 2 year, some 4 year programs.

That's what I figured.

Since they are an offshoot of Silver State Helicopters I was very suspicous.

OTOH, Yes BAZ does need a tower very badly.
