Whatever happend to 'Pilot X' & 4 Day Follies

ClearedForOption

Displaced... again.
I've been rereading my copy of 4 day follies since I'm inbetween books right now and realized it's been a few years since the author said his 2nd book would be coming out.

Anyone know any news? Or did having to much 'LUV' in his life shut down Volume 2 of what I hoped to be another very funny day in the life tome about our careers?

I'm friends with Folly Pilot on the FB, this was from 2012...hopefully he got things sorted out and is on the up and up. Brilliant writer who writes like we talk

Wow! Wife left & took the kids... didn't know that part. (As a 'senior' FO - on the airplane that Southwest didn't keep - he probably got hosed in the merger)

That stinks. Well, that explains why there isn't a 2nd book yet or ever.

It might be cathartic if he would write his experiences down for all of us to share in the comedy of his tragedy - his book reads like Louie CK playing an airline pilot. Plus, I need a good read, I'm basically out of books and I have about 700 commutes to go before I can get back out west.

I asked this a year or two ago and someone said something like, best not ask, lest I end up like him.... wut??? I agree, I thought that book was hilarious!!! I really enjoyed his sense of humor and writing style. When they said that I thought maybe someone didn't like it, tried to drop some kind of dime on him and he either lost a medical (no idea why or how or why I'd think that) or his airline fired him for ... some reason... kind of like the flight attendant who got fired for his blog and the airline took it as defamation or something.

Not knowing the guy and just enjoying his stuff - that makes me sad, I find it surprising, and I hope things are looking up and he's finding a bright spot somehow.

For some reason I have this feeling I'm about to get ridiculed or flamed or... something.

That sucks. I love his style of writing and hope he can pull things together for a second book.

Just for funsies (and one of my favorite parts):

“Sitting in an empty gate in LAS for two hours I see a diminutive older woman with dark spiky hair and bee-hive glasses strutting woodenly along. Her stance is danger wide. Her bent kneed shuffle with “glide home little angel” arms outstretched for balance, suggest the Earth is not as dependable in the “ground” capacity, as I’ve been led to believe. She looks like she’s trying to cross a busy trampoline and do math.

She’s wearing orange plastic flip-flops and yellow bike shorts. Not fat so much as compressed. Like the gravity in Fashion Bug was dialed to “Jupiter” the day she purchased this ensemble. Around each ankle she has wide gold metallic bands. Presumably, for further research after she’s released back into the wild. This is the high point of my sit."

Should've taken him up on that "My wife is cooler than yours" bet....

I keed, I keed!

That really sucks. I feared that his silence revolved around something really un-folly-like. Confirmed.

Pilot X: If you're out there. We're pullin for ya, man! Everythings gonna' be alright. Your faithful followers will be here patiently, like a nest of baby birds, for another beakfull of awesomeness!!!

Just finished up the og follies... Absolutely one of my favorite reads of late. I hope all is well with Pilot X and we hear something sooner rather than later.
