What your old 121.5 ELT battery is made of

So I always imagined that the battery inside of an ELT would be a high quality specialized component. Today I replaced the ELT in our flight schools venerable 172N. Once the job and the paper work was complete I decided to look inside the little cardboard box that held the battery which could one day power the ELT that could save the bacon of myself and a student. I was a little frustrated when I found out what we paid $35 for. They could have at least used a more confidence inspiring brand of battery.
