What vision do you have?

Alright. My appointment is set for the 23rd at 10am. I plan on flaying that afternoon, so I hope it's not disappointing.

Only thing that I am worried about is my vision, even though it is corrected to 20/20, my color vision is spot on, and so is my depth perception.

I just hate the unknown.

When they issue the 1st class, or any medical for example, if you need glasses to see 20/20, they put it on the medical correct? Much like a drivers lis.?

Nevermind the last. . . http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/6/61/Medcirc.PNG

20/15 left, 20/25 right

Wore a contact from 1987 thru about 1992 but then my eye improved enough to pass the 20/20 chart. Weird.

I'm correctable to 20/20 using both eyes, but 20/20 in one and 20/25 in another, unless I go to "my" AME if you know what I mean. His eye test is extremely easy. Most are hard for me to read.

I've considered getting a SODA (so as to not worry about the eye test anymore) but I'm wondering how it would appear to companies when I apply? Do 'majors' allow sodas or must you pass a first class without restrictions? I'm scared one day I'll score an interview and not pass the medical...

(I'm 20/400+ without glasses :()

I had a SODA before I was able to get my eyes working correctly, told both airlines I had it but really didn't require it all that much and no one really cared.

But that's just my present and previous employer. Other airlines may throw a hissy, others may not.

i have something like 20/15 uncorrected. i a blessed. i know it wont last though. everyone in myy family wears glasses. hopefully i can evade it

I had 20/10 vision before college. After all the late night studying and whatnot I have 20/70-20/100 uncorrected (somewhere in there), 20/20 corrected.

Dunno what my uncorrected acuity is, everything's blurry beyond about 7 inches from my nose without glasses or contacts. I switch between glasses and contacts, my prescription is -5.5 in both eyes, with which I can see 20/10-20/15. With my contacts in particular, I'm noticing a bit of presbyopia, meaning I can't hold things super close and still read them, gotta back em off a few inches.

I can read the 20/20 line on the eye chart uncorrected but its blurry. My eye doctor estimates I'm about 20/30 uncorrected. No limitations on my medical, but with contacts I'm corrected to 20/15.

Doug, you had to get a SODA for being 20/25 uncorrected in one eye???????

20/20 near, 20/15 distance, in my early 30's, I'll enjoy it while it lasts, it's all downhill from here. I played college baseball and now I can't even homer in my softball league.....sad, or maybe just out of shape hehehehe.

I'm 20/20 left and right eye separately......20/15 together after Lasik. I wore glasses from '79 (6 years old) until last February. My pre-op exam showed I was 20/300. I was 20/20 with glasses. If you can be corrected to 20/20, you can achieve 20/20 with lasik. It's called best corrected visual acuity.

I didn't go blind. I had a slight 'flap' movement during my post op, but I was the <1% that it happens to. I would do the procedure every year if I had to. Just get a good, experienced surgeon. My doctor did all of the Dallas Mavericks, a couple of Dallas Cowboys, and a few Dallas Stars.....they have millions on the line, I don't think they'd risk their eyesight more than us pilots.

20/250 before March this year
PRK 16 March
Now 20/20 in one and 20/15 in the other
Still waiting for night vision to come back around to 100%

20/200 without glasses. 20/20 with glasses, and I am planning to get contacts at some point.

Still 20/15 uncorrected, both eyes.

Lucky me!!

I recall that during a flight physical at Rucker, back in '98 or so(Where my eyes were manually dilated, and I had to walk around post for the next 5 hours with the ridiculous black tint sun visors looking like a cylon from Battlestar Galactica!), the flight surgeon told me that I had a textbook profile, and that I should expect a vision change at around my early 40's

When I went in the navy I was 20\10 , but god played a bad joke on me I am color blind to a small degree. But I can see things that other people ca not see far way. good hunting eyes. Plus I can hear helo's from way off in the distance I guess living lower Alabam helped there.:nana2:

I'm 20/10 in one and 20/12 in the other. I've been doing those eye "exercises" to try to get them even. My eye doctor thinks that might work, but success varies. What he's got me doing isn't all that advanced compared to what you could do though.

L 20/20 Uncorrected Near Vision
L 20/25 Best Corrected Distant Vision

R 20/20 Uncorrected Near and Distant

I have a SODA for a 1st class per the FAA for my left eye distant vision. Unfortunately that stuff bars you from some airlines. Alaska Airlines requires 20/20 vision in both eyes. AA and AE both are pretty strict about that too. It's funny, I could have thousands of hours of turbine PIC but still not meet the requirements for some of these companies. I think it's kind of ridiculous.

Most airlines now are shying away from actually having an acuity requirement. Most just say 1st class medical which I have. I think the reason for that is there have been some lawsuits in accordance with the Americans with Disabilities Act...I could be wrong though.

The military would be out of the question for me as well because of my vision so I'm gonna try to make it as a civvy!
