What side gig do you have at the company you work for?

Curious to see what other types of things corporate pilots do for the company they work for when they are not flying. I work for a concrete company and estimate when I am not flying. Another pilot I know used to fly for a lumber company and would give tours of their mills to investors and VIP's.
 
I watch over my assigned aircraft.......

As a side job, I also work in the training department of the management company, around my schedule...

If you have a few minutes, I have some steak knives that will cut through a steel can, then slice tomatoes paper thin.

On a side note, who actually likes paper thin tomatoes??
 
My wife and I run a photography studio with her background in graphic design and editing.

Unfortunately military wives have a tendency to have a lot of semi-pro photographer spouses as well so politics of who gets to shoot who's newborn and family photos gets interesting at times.

I think he's talking about company required duties beside flying. Not outside business interests.
 
My first CFI when not flying a family owned corporate twin for a paycheck was the corporate CFI for the extended family and friends.

Do you like estimating?

Did the other guy like giving tours?

I'm kind of in the camp of flying and flying related items only. The company you work for should have respect for the idea of a professional pilot who, you know, flies and manages the airplane.

Estimating is a new challenge for me, and it gives me something to do when the flying gets slow. I have largely been given free reign to do whatever I want, or do nothing at all (except fly/manage the plane) within the company. I figure it is an opportunity to learn a non aviation skill. Before becoming a pilot I was a CH-53 Crew Chief, if I lose my medical I want another option besides turning wrenches. I don't want to have to mech in my 50's and 60's unless it's for fun on my own airplane.
 
I was also hoping to hear about some interesting things people did on the side outside of flying for their primary employer. I did a short stint in LE while I was still CFI'ing. Even with a sugar momma at home, just instructing was not quiet enough with a teenage daughter and a near teen daughter.
 
For the company I fly for, that is all I do, as a pilot should. Side gig which isn't really much side anymore is a Real Estate Broker.
