What is the difference?

OO BRO FO
I am about a day from choosing the 90 day program at ATP Phoenix, but then I came across another flight school Ari-Ben. For $20k less than ATP I get the same ratings, plus a FULL 200 hours multi time. Then for an additional $10k I can add another 100 hours of multi time, bringing the total to 300 multi hours for about $10k less than ATP. Am I missing something here? Why is ATP so much more than this other school?

Ive never heard of Air Ben? Id be weary giving that much money to company I didnt know well. Been burned before like that because the school went out of business, luckily I only lost a grand. Some people lost a lot more.

ATP gives you 250? hours of multi I believe. There are lots of places cheaper than ATP but if you were looking at the 90 day program there arent many flight schools that have a program that compares. If you dont care about the 90 day thing that you can go just about anywhere and it will be cheaper, but much slower.

Eh, for $20k its worth it to check out ari-ben. I think with ATP the only thing youll get is an RJ course. Youll leave ATP with around 130 hours of ACTUAL ME time and about 45 hours of sim time.

I dont know how ari-ben works but... make sure that is the set price. With ATP its $60k, and thats that. I never saw anyone that had to have extra training. A pro for ATP is that there are tons of people on this site that have been through the program and can give it 2 thumbs up.

Ari Ben is out of Ft Pierce, FL (KFPR) and when I flew out of that airport they had some pretty shady aircraft....by that I mean not well maintained and from what I was told very problematic. I am not ATP's biggest fan but they do have great planes, a pretty good maintence team and have a pretty good program. I know 20k is a good pile of cash but i would say it's worth the extra money.

I just finished the interview at Phoenix. The place was nice, had 4 sims and new planes. Looks like a nice place. The interview was very basic and relaxed. If I do the program, It will be at Phoenix.

Pheonix is def. the headquarters of the west. Its a great location, and its big. Most locations only have 1 sim, so you have to wait around if you want to use it. Phoenix students almost always fly 2000 model seminoles as well. Although the older 79's arent bad, the 2000s just have less quirks. Also for CFI school you go to Vegas. Say Hello to Frank for me ;D

I almost went to Ari ben (when it was 10k cheaper then ATP) but the only downside I seen was that the students take about an average of 9 months to complete the program vs the 3 months at ATP, so with my job, ATP was actually cheaper. I would now recommend it over ATP if its that much cheaper..

AND dont buy the 100 hours multi time when you complete their program. you will have a MEI and they will hire you to get your muti time!! Their always looking for MEIs it seems, and they even offered me a job coming out of ATP.

Also, many airlines frown upon the 100hours of multi engine purchased. I know when eagle was hiring it was a common question "How many hours where you actually on the yoke."

My 135 hours of multi time dropped to about 80 or so when I interviewed, I was still hired, but still. Just because its legal PIC doesn't mean its meaningful PIC.

I was seriously considering Ari-ben before deciding on ATP. What did it for me was that at Ari-ben, your the one that has to push for the program to be done quickly as you want it,where at ATP, you don't have much say. Also inquire to Ari-ben about the price of housing, how many months of housing do you get for that price? You'll find you very well may be spending more than quoted once your program lasts longer than the amount of time you get housing for. At least this was the case for when I inquired.

If you're going to check out Ari-Ben, you will really do a disservice to yourself if you also do not visit Falcon Aviation out of Atlanta - 4 locations in the metro Atlanta area, and not the huge price tag associated with ATP or even Ari-Ben.

Granted, Falcon does not put a housing price into their sale price. . .because honestly - you're paying for flight training, not a rental agreement.
