What happened ATP??

While technically possible, I doubt the liklihood of this occuring.

Why would you doubt this? I got hired at my current gig in April. I had 250 hours when I started. Another guy got hired in August with the same amount of time. Most of the other FO's here started with less than 1000 hours. In fact most had less than 500 hours. We are the largest 135 outfit in South Florida. The largest operator of Saab 340 Freighters in the world.

Before I get the millions of PM's though we arent hiring right now and probably wont be until spring at the earliest. But I dont see the minimums changing because in general IBC likes to hire lower time guys, they tend to stick around a bit longer.

The 1500 rule only effects 121 Airlines, so there will still be other ways to build time.

If it is mandated by legislation then the FAA doesn't have any choice in the matter. I believe what they were saying is that they will not, on their own, make such a rule.

Yes I agree, to a point. Congress can always force the FAA to make the rule. However, the FAA is not just saying they will not make such a rule on their own, but also that they do not think such a rule should be made at all. That was some heavy weight.

Politics is run by big business. Big business does not like the 1500 rule. Congress passed it to show support. Getting something passed in the Senete is a bit more tricky especially when big business does not support a bill. And now with the FAA saying they dont support it eather. I doubt this bill ever even comes to a vote. And if it does it will probably be changed for a hour minimum into a training and duty time rules bill.

unions are scattered and in disarray, this is reflected in the pinnacle blue collar job, the airline pilot. No one should fly a jet with passengers for less than 50 grand. A garbage man makes more, and his future is more secure. We need to protect ourselves, master contracts, furlough insurance, loss of medical insurance, all of these types of things need to be talked about. Especially work rules this industry is sick.

I love how they removed all the TT/ME times in which their students were hired with. Guess they have now realized it probably is not the best time to brag about going from IFR-CRJ Indoc in 90 days.....

ha! they took my old mugshot down as well... looks like they took down all their old CFI's who were hired by "corporate operators" (thats what they put up if you were not hired at a regional airline).

whats wrong with ameriflight?

Nothing is wrong with Ameriflight. I don't care for ATP boosting their numbers of "people hired by the airlines" by showing companies like Ameriflight and Flight Express. Another thing they do is they NEVER update the page after they post that someone got a job. Back when everyone got hired quickly and then furloughed during training or placed in a pool before training even started, ATP never took those people off the page. I think it is very misleading, that is all.
