I've done some aviation art myself. This first one is a Messerschmitt BF-109. I copied it from the box of a model kit in my 11th grade art class:
The second one is part of a silk-screen project from my 9th grade art class. There was a box of old magazines; one with an advertisement for American Airlines with a picture of a McDonnell Douglas DC-10. I drew the plane on paper using pencil, and then turned it at an angle to trace onto the silk-screen stuff. I used an exacto knife to cut out where I wanted ink to go through, and added the horizon and smoking engines. There's 14 more of these things, in different colors, somewhere in my house:
I don't really draw much anymore, but I did attempt a pencil drawing of a Northwest DC-10, copied from an Airliners.net picture. I'd say it's 75% done, but I haven't touched it in a while. If I finish it, I'll post it.
Those look awesome! The colors on the second one looks great. The key IMO is to used a dark black pencil to make the outlines darker as it looks better.
