What DELTA really stands for

Now you DELTA pilots dont shoot me...

My dad was telling me about one time when he was flying on an Eastern Airlines flight along time ago. And as they were taxing to takeoff out of Atlanta they were passing the DELTA terminal and the flight attendant came on the loud speaker and said "Everyone knows what DELTA stand for right? Doesnt Ever Leave The Airport"

I just thought it was funny.

You seriously need some humor lessons, dude. A seasoned veteran would have posted multiple bad airline jokes in the OOTSK section.

Ha! These days such shenanigans would probably leave us in hot water with our PC & tattle tale culture.

Used to love hearing stories of TWA & Eastern guys flipping the bird and mooning each other. One particular story goes as follows...

Upon taxiing out the Eastern captain makes announcement to have a look out the left side of the aircraft at the friendly TWA pilots. Turns out the TWA pilots were giving the bird to the Eastern crew, but only because the Eastern guys suckered them into doing it :D

I've don't believe in the saying, I'd never say it to any of the sailors, but it's funny.

This stuff goes on now, and always HAS gone on. however, the tools of the industry would have you believe that it's those silly, immature airline pilots that act silly.

It's called life, and it's funny!:p

Funny, I've heard the EXACT same story, only with the names reversed!

I've got a bridge to sell you too.

Does the name Roebling ring a bell?

:bandit:

Oh, and it means "Dont Ever land There Again!" (Think of a place REALLY close to KTPA...*cough* south...)

Ha! Well, maybe it was the other way around and they probably pulled it on each other all the time. It was told to me about 10 years ago by a former Eastern guy so who knows.

I heard they got a great polaroid of it.

Yup, and guess which airline is still in business. :laff:

There are acronyms for all of the big airlines. It would not be kosher of me to post the ones for Continental and United. The one's for Delta are far more lighthearted.
