I'm sure this may seem like a dumb question to some, but I can't find any list of FAA minimums for the various liscences. So if anyone can help me out, it would be appreciated.

Private 40 hours
Instrument 40 hours of simulated instrument
Commercial 250 hours
ATP 1500 hours

- there are a lot of smaller requirements in there including cross country and etc, reference part 61 of the FAR's (I'm too lazy to;))

If you do your training part 141 its:

Private 35 hours
Comm 190 hours

Yes, but................

And that is going to depend on the 'Specific' 141 program you attend. Different schools, different times. Those listed are mins.

And even if the specific program's minimums are 35 hours, reality is that it takes most people about twice that unless they have extreemely meager training.

Thats true... in fact it took me almost twice the hours to get my private. Things like stage checks etcetera really add up.

And with no benefit to the student! Stage checks are a huge flight school scam.

Nonsense. In a well-organized 141 program, administered by a Chief that stays on the ball, the stage checks don't add any extra time to the training program. With my former employer, the stage exams were included as a part of the 35 hours.

I did my private in 35.1hrs (in Illinois, in summer) ... more luck than anything, though and definately NOT the norm. But it is possible.
