Well, that sucked

Was teaching a student thursday and a neighbor called to tell me my house was on fire. My home office with most of our books, records and computer stuff is now charcoal.

Good news is no one was home, my insurance is with USAA (the best) and our family is close, I carry my log books with me, I start flying as an F.O. on a Lear 25 next week and no one knocked me out while I was tring to write a speeding ticket.

Just seems like a good news, bad news kind of week!

Bummer. Do you know the cause?

Grass is always greener on the otherside. That shiny new jet will cheer you up.

Best of luck.

Woah! Glad everybody's ok. Congrats on the Lear by the by. Kinda off topic but isn't the 25 the world's first business jet?

Yeah that does suck. Glad nobody was home, that was lucky, and a good thing you have insurance, but it still sucks because money doesn't replace some things.

Even if I had insurance on all of my books, it woud take forever to find new copies, if I could, and then I would need a truck to get them home.lol.

I think you are correct about the 20 series (23, 24, 25) being the first buisness jets. It all began in Witchita, Kansas 1963 when the first L-23 took flight.

There was a good video about the history of Lears. "The Origin of a Legend. Launching a Legend"

Good grief! I've been working with the adjuster and just trying to remember what was in my home office room has been a nightmare! Still don't know a cause - just that it started under my home desk and wasn't any of the major electrical wires. Insurance is covering everying-so far so good but what a head ache!

Lear jet in a week and a half....(gotta look on the bright side of life!) ;)

That was your house that caught on fire? I was over at that flight school the other day (at LZU) and the lady at the desk told me an instructors house had caught on fire. I was sorry to hear that.

That would be me! My co-workers and the owner are good people! What brought you by our way?

gt,

that is horrible. I am new to the board, so I do not know the members.
You say family lives near, that is good. Did you lose the whole house, or just that room? I know both are bad. Do you have children? Thankfully no one was harmed.

I am hoping to drop by LZU next week w/ my resume, just visiting FBO's. (i'm an F/A not pilot)

I hope insurance works quickly for you.

fly safe,

ladi
