Original call for the present KDEN. Stood for Denver International Airport. Assigned because of the overlap with Stapleton, the old airport. Changed to KDEN after Stapleton closed.

Since there were significant delays opening the new one, including fixing an automated baggage system noted for chewing up luggage, people said that DIA stood for Doesn't Include Aircraft.
