Today while going into Nashville I heard something that sent a shiver down my spine. An Expressjet crew (not sure if they were going to BNA or not) reported smoke in the cockpit. The first thing he said was "We're on fire up here!" thankfully they made it down just fine. On the odd chance that the crew or the air traffic controller involved frequent this forum, I thought I'd say good job. I think all of us can only hope to be (or at least sound) as calm and on top of things as you guys were.
There are two things that absolutely scare me. Fire in flight is one of them. Losing a large, very important part of the plane is the other.
