Wanna Know How Small Aviation Really Is??

So, I'm at The "C" gates at CVG, in the cockpit, preparing to board. I get a text message on my phone: "Look to the right". I look over, and it's another JC'er that flies for my company, that I've known for some time, in the plane to my right.:p

So, I do a Toledo turn, and back at CVG in the "A" gates, preparing for departure, I get a text message: "Look to the left". Look over and it's the same JC'er, on the plane to my left!

It's sooo small!!:buck:

He's a stalker haha :sarcasm:

I'm very familiar with both of those concourses at CVG. I worked there for 3 summers, so it's quite possible that I've seen both of you before and didn't even know it.

Someone geared up one of our airplanes a while back and my boss got a call from an old friend within 3 hours asking what happened.

She lived on the east coast. ;)

Yeah, I was just finishing up my walk-around the other day, and I heard someone calling my name. That happens all the time, but it's usually just the voices in my head, so I ignored it. Then I realized it WASN'T the voices in my head, so I looked around, and a guy that used to fly JSTARS with me was waving from the window of the plane next to me. I knew he was in the company, but hadn't seen/talked to him since getting hired.

Or how about this..

You fly to Oshkosh.. After Oshkosh is over, you fly home..

On said leg home, you have not one but 2 tornado's on the ground several miles ahead of you, so you divert to small town Kankakee, IL..

Once on the ground there.. Your pops gets out of the plane, walks into the FBO to "sit out the storm."

While sitting in the FBO two fella's already there sitting out the storm start giving your pops eyes...

Then you hear..

"Heeey.. Weren't you Eastern?"
"Yehh... John?
"Ron?"
"HEY man! How ya been??"

Or how about sitting in ground school at a new airline and while having one of the "I flew yadda yadda BS sessions" the kid next to you throws out a tail number of an Mu2 you both flew and never knew about each other.. :)

Talk about small.. :D

Lloyd, I'm a little sad that you've been in CVG all this time and we haven't hung out. :(

Now I am leaving. Tonight is my last night in town for a month or so, and then I'll be moving (again). :panic:

I was walking down the K at ORD one day, apparently not paying attention to where I was going, and I walked right into (as in SMACK, walked into) a UFS guy who'd been in the crashpad upstairs from my old crashpad.

There is this guy at APC (Skyhigh) who I can't stand cause he's so anti-aviation career. Any of you who frequent both sites know who he is.

I get a call from a buddy who runs an avionics shop that he could use my help ferrying a Cessna 150 to it's new owner in ELN. They did an annual on it and put in a GPS. I fly the plane to ELN and drop if off and it turns out that Skyhigh was the new owner....

Kinda weird.

I ran into a guy at Nine Fine at NJC this year, and the conversation went something like this:

"Hey I don't think we've met, I'm John Herreshoff, jtrain on the forums."

"Yeah I know, we used to live together"

"...no we didn't"

"Yeah we did, you were at Skymates. I was at your house for about three weeks as a time builder."

"Who was your partner? The kid from Oklahoma?"

"Yeah, you fixed my computer"

*squint (it was kinda dark and I was...erm...buzzed)*

"Oh yeah you lived up in Joe D's room for a while didn't you! So...erm...how ya been?"

Turns out he's down at Colgan these days.

It can be a small world.

Yesterday while non-reving back home on the evening flight, the rampies in LGA gave me the cargo maifest to drop off to the crew on my way up the stairs- and as I dropped it off, I knew the FO- met her 3 years ago while i was an intern, i was sitting in her ground school systems class.

So did you like him any better in person?

Small industry indeed. I was kind of seeing this flight attendant, but last week we decided to just be friends. Later that night I get set up on a blind date with another flight attendant, and I called her up to make arrangements and she asks if I can bring a friend because her friend wanted to come too. So I grab my roommate and we go to meet these girls. Guess who her friend was.
