Wal-Mart Aviation

That One Guy
Anyone here ever fly for Wal-Mart, or know someone who does/did? I've heard both good things and bad things about them, but all my info has been second hand. I know about their fleet. I mainly want to know about salary and QOL. Thanks.

I know some of the normal employees share rooms, but haven't heard about pilots. But it would make sense due the corporate culture of there.

I talked to a pilot for them about 3 yrs ago and he told me that at the time they did very few overnights. Usually just really late returns home. A big fleet of Lear 31's I believe. Lots of flying

Fly for Wal-Mart? For a minute there I thought this was a thread about regionals.....

lol

I have a close friend from college that flew for Wal Mart for a couple of years...they did share rooms waaaaay back in the day but I think that has largely gone by the wayside. As far as hearing good and bad things....it is a very large flight department and as with every other job out there - some people like it, some don't.

I think they operate a Global Express, Challengers, and some Beech Kings. I have heard both good and bad things about them also.

They don't have any King Airs that I know. The largest part of their fleet is comprised of Lears.

According to the FAA N-number inquiry site they have 3 lear 31's and 1 lear 35A.

Have you been to Rogers, AR? I jumpsat down there twice (SJ Johnson Wax flight department intern) and it is certainly different from where I'm from. The FBO is run by Wal-Mart and their Lears seemed extremely active on the days I was present.

Speaking of that area, I overnighted there last week and was amazed at all the development. I had read about it in an article, but there are truly strip malls next to farm houses everywhere there. The country side is nice too...but now just another suburbia

Wal mart has a fleet of lears used for fly execs to stores that have suspected talks about union creation.

Hah. Speaking of tactics like that, I know an insurance company on the east coast that dispatches a Citation to companies/individuals who haven't responded to policy renewal requests. I remember being on one of these flights (it was a Cheyenne IIIA back then)... two big guys show up, we fly them to CT, and they just surprise visit someone who they want to renew with. SKETCHY!

What "convincing" tactics do they do to get the customer to realize that they really DID want to renew all this time?

:D

I've heard that the county that includes Bentonville and Rogers has the fastest growing population in the U.S.
