Visited PEA

I broke bread with Gary G and friends at PEA today and I got the full blown tour of the facility. Nice place! I am very impressed.

We were talking about the upcoming Airline Bridge program, which looks like a real slick program.

Stay tuned!

This is my backup if I can't get finished at Air Orlando. I have a friend that got his PPL at Phoenix East, but he said that a lot of times their planes will be down for maintenance, and you wouldn't find out until you go there. Driving ALL the way from Orlando to Daytona to find out I had no plane for the day would be kinda frustrating. But I do like their 50 hour Commercial program. That glass cockpit trainer is pretty sweet, too.

Good thing I didn't stop in your office, then.
I flew into MCO Tuesday, flying out tomorrow A.M.
I thought about trying to find your office at ORL, but didn't have any free time. Good thing, eh?

Darn, I don't go into work at MCO until tomorrow afternoon, and my wife has the car in the morning.

I was in and out all day. I flew up to Daytona from 11 to 3.

I had a nasty time with Daytona approach as well. I think some of those people need to realize that controller is merely a title and not a job description!

Ah, you must have gotten the extra extended VFR downwind so those Riddle guys could finish their touch and gos.

When I flew in there to visit PEA, I requested a practice ILS. Cleared straight in, and not too far to taxi.

It was worse than that - he made me reverse course! He sent me back towards Orlando. He was definitely having an attitude attack.

Welcome to Daytona flying! We had to extend our downwind for 7L halfway to Deland today after a circling VOR approach from the north. I will say ATC here does a great job for the volume of flight training in the area. For the most part they're usually very friendly as well. If any of you guys come up this way give me a shout and I'll spring for lunch.

There was no "friendly" in this guys vocabulary. He was trying to make a point that he was a CONTROLLER and he was in CONTROL.

Again, he needs to remember that it is only a title, and not a job description.

Dude, if you were in the Lance he probably thought you were trying to land at Spruce Creek instead of DAB. Any piston plane nicer than a Seneca gets looked at funny at DAB.

Yeah they kept calling me a Seminole. I think he thought I was a DCA pilot or something. Anyway I was on the verge of losing my temper and I think he realized it and stopped messing with me. It ruined an otherwise nice day.

You should have told him you were a Seneca practicing single engine ops. Or better yet, a single engine Seneca. That would have done him in.
