Probably one of the coolest videos I have ever seen. American and Brazilian forces follow a plane smuggling drugs. They begin to shoot at the plane as it nears the border. Eventually the plane is hit enough to cause it to crash and blow up.

Awesome!! :rawk:

** Sorry, I forgot we have a section for videos. Any mod feel free to move it.

Sorry,

But I don't find the downing of an unarmed aircraft that poses no immediate threat awesome, I find it sickening!

That aircraft may pose no immediate threat to you but the second that crap hits the streets it poses an immediate threat to me.

Sorry.

The aircraft poses an immediate threat to you? Your stretching there. I understand the person moving it on the ground might pose a threat to you, but the fact that a person is moving it on the ground is now justification to shoot at them? Do you make a habit of firing on unarmed drug carriers? I understand your point, but firing on unarmed aircraft is still inexcusable in my book. No different then firing on an unarmed civilian on the streets. There are other ways to resolve it, diplomacy so that you can follow the aircraft and make an intercept on the ground, I know, no where near as exciting, so it doesn't get the same effort. :(

Drug runners aren't innocent bystanders, man. No sympathy for self-inflicted wounds.

For all we know the pilot had a gun to his head. Or maybe someone had a gun to his FAMILY'S head.

Maybe, maybe not. We'll likely never know.

Maybe it was necessary. I don't know. I hope I never have to make that decision, and I question the certitude of someone who would.

In a sense you understand where I am coming from and in a sense I understand where you are coming from. This aircraft that is flying this stuff in is contributing to the potential harm on everyones streets.

"No different then firing on an unarmed civilian on the streets"... so you are comparing drug smugglers being shot down to unarmed civilians on the street?

What I am saying is how can you be positive they are drug smugglers, and not innocents you are shooting. And if they are drug smugglers, do they not deserve a trial before being executed? The police are executioners in this case, and that is not a good or acceptable situation.

While I think everybody is a little trigger happy - Everyone has to grow up sometime. What if there was a bomb on board? Then we shoot? Planes getting shot down is part of national security. Then who decides? Now you gotta have system for inspection and procedures etc... Listen your not supposed to sneak in here. If you do your gonna get shot you know it so your asking for it.

At the same time that applies to you officer. No disrespect but you volunteer for your job. You cant ask that everyone that adds to your danger be killed.

If there was a bomb on board, then the plane would be considered armed. The plane in this video was "suspected" of carrying drugs. Hardly an immediate threat to anyone on the ground, thus I do not believe it should be shot down. Just arrest the suspects at their destination. I am not saying a civilian plane should never be shot down, in another 9/11 scenario, yes, they should be brought down. but for something like carrying a controlled substance, no.

ya that doesnt work dude the fact is no one knows whats on board. Maybe its drugs maybe its drugs + whatever. What you do know for a fact is an airplane is sneeking into the country... Thats probably an indication that whatever they are bringing is not wanted here.

You cant sneek behind a tellers window at the bank to bring them a gift - why would we let you sneek into a country? Be realistic.

We are not talking about an aircraft sneaking into OUR country. This airplane was sneaking OUT of a country. Rather than let it get away, they chose to down it. That is not the correct decision in my opinion. And keep in mind drugs are a police concern, not a military concern. I am just glad our military is not used for law enforcement domestically. National security of the airspace IS a military concern. If an aircraft sneaks into our country and you cannot get it to follow you, then by all means after some warning shots, bring it down. But shooting should NEVER be the first option, and that is what some people here seem to be advocating. Perhaps I am misunderstanding their position.

An awfully lot of probables and maybes in your assumptions there to justify killing people in my book.

Yeah, you might be too young to recall Reagan declaring a WAR ON DRUGS back in the day. Let us not be so naive to think that a plane, flying at tree top level going below radar level in the remote jungles of Columbia is a happy family out for a photo shoot. Its obvious from the audio that the plane has been interdicted and they still won't turn back. Why wouldnt you just wait for them to land? THEYRE GOING OVER THE BORDER! Take a look at the countries surrounding Columbia...hmmm.

My only question to you would be this: Have you ever known someone that was addicted to cocaine? I'm not talking about some frat boys buying too much baking powder on Saturday night. I'm talking true drug addiction. It destroys them, their families and their communities. Summary execution. Sure, why not.

You believe in wealth redistribution too, don't you...And that corporate CEO's are evil people?

I'm with FiveO on this one...

Good guys: 1
Bad guys: 0

I'm sure FiveO knows if someone sees him approaching and tears off, that they're probably not just going out for ice cream.

Wow, you don't know me at ALL. So should we outlaw every addictive drug and treat the distributors of those drugs the same?? Should we kill everyone trying to flee the country when they could be captured and extradited in the future. Is justice about revenge, or upholding the laws??

Still does not justify FiveO killing them. Don't get me wrong, I am not upset if a drug smuggler is no longer walking amongst us, I just don't think they should be taken out without trial.

I see what you mean, but then again, I'd rather Five0 show them his new toy then they t-bone my family at the next intersection. But then again, I'm a strong supporter of police brutality :buck:

Here's another situation to ponder... a/c crosses into the Washington ADIZ unauthorized on a direct course for the mall. F-16s catch up to him and he immediately hits the deck, playing Red Bull Air Races with large building and towers, obviously evading. He's unarmed - but do you still wait until he lands before intervening? I would hope the fast movers would turn him into metal confetti.
