VGT - watch out, Sheble...

Just finished up an IPC at Westair. Flying the T-41B was great fun.

Finished up, looking at the Staggerwing in the hangar, see they're taxiing out with the tow bar attached...

Great little operation (Westair) not so much, Sheble. Not that they appear on any airport signs or buildings...

Alex.

How many planes does this new Sheble "northtown" have? I know the Sheble's of the past is pretty much gone and they are no longer in the seaplane training business as far as I can tell.

I believe they only keep one multi at Northtown. maybe one other in Laughlin??? Not sure.

Just did some research. Quick research that is. That Sheble NORTHTOWN site is new since after October. Becuase that was not up when I was looking into them in Oct. to do a ATP ride.

They are still around, they just keep moving locations because they are garbage.

Not sure on number of planes. Looked like a travel air. A guy headed out on a golf cart to tell them, they said, oh I know about it, I was gonna stop shortly to remove it...

That and stories about them shadowing planes on instrument approaches as a form of teaching make me pretty skeptical of the operation.

I recommend Westair, if you need to knock out the ATP.

Shadowing planes? You mean like a formation approach or something?

Yeh, the CFI said they would fly close behind them on approaches, so he broke off 90 degrees.

I wondered why he was a bit twitchy about unidentified traffic in the practice area...

...I fail to see why they would use that for training purposes. Where were these approaches at? VGT?

Yeh VGT. I get it, makes no sense, unless you want to avoid 'wasting time' speaking to approach for your own practice slots...
