US Airways Hiring

They must have just pulled it. I get the "your session has timed out" message and when I go to jobs the dispatcher job is not there.

I got heads up that us airways wont be hiring dispatchers until most likely a year from now...but im going to definitely keep checking also

Well the job was posted for about 12+ hours... so apparently they are hiring now. As someone else noted, it was taken down already.

I have been talking to people at USAirways. They are going to be hiring soon, but the question is how many? Two things play into this. One is the AA/US merger, and if its approved they are going to have to hire more for attrition. Secondly is immediate needs. I have heard that the union is in a disagreement with the company over how many people are actually going to be hired. It is going to happen, and I will try to find out more on Tuesday from my source at USAirways.

FWIW, if you currently work for some sort of USAirways Express operation, that will be a big help if you are trying to get on there, (Much like Eagle is a big help for AA)

US Airways is supposed to have a fairly senior work group in dispatch. It is unknown how many would move to DFW but there could be a lot of the older guys that choose to not make the move south.

Likewise, if the merger goes through and they were to choose PIT for the combined SOC in an agreement with the PA politicians, AA would likely have a large amount decide to retire or not move to PIT.

Either way, the merger being approved will be good for anyone wanting a job at a major.

from what happened with texas dropping out of the lawsuit AA apparently signed an agreement to stay in Dallas texas so they aren't moving to pit anytime soon heres the article

Their HQ could stay in DFW but they could have their dispatch office in PIT. It's unusual but US has a similar setup right now with HQ in PHX and dispatch in PIT, and the same management will be running a combined AA if a merger does occur....

All this being said I think it's likely dispatch will move to DFW if a merger is approved, but it's not a certainty.

true not a certainty if anyone actually gets an interview with US good idea to bring that question up..as interview will prolly be held post trial

Word is they're building a big new dispatch facility in Dallas sufficient to accommodate both sides.

In this industry I don't believe anything until there us an official announcement - and even then things can change.

That is not a rumor. Parker has said the facility in PIT will be closed. Everything will be moved to the current AA Centreport location just north of DFW.

The SOC is at the Flight Academy which is south of DFW airport, not north. Corporate HQ for AMR is located at DFW Centreport also south of DFW.

Parker said the facility would likely close but that was before the DOJ and state of PA objected to the merger. To appease the politicians, nothing would be a surprise.
