UPS recommendeeeee get\'s hired.

Got a call from my buddy who is....was....a check airman on the RJ at Mesa. I recommended him for an interview at UPS in December and was quite happy to learn that he got the interview about three weeks ago. Today I heard he got hired pending the physical and is hoping for a April 18th class. You pass the UPS physical if you are breathing. They only hire one out of four they interview. He's straight civillian, UW business major, small part 61 school (I trained him for his IFR), Cessna 150 owner, background. I'm very happy for him and hope to fly with him someday.

Ok, whatever dude. Are you seriously suggesting that we should believe that a guy went to a part 61 school, worked hard, paid his dues, and got hired by a major airline?!?!? You mean to tell me that he didn't go to a 'pilot mill' academy and still made it to the top?!?!?!?

Man, don't let the secret out or there goes 'Flying Magazine's' advertising income!

Good job on your mate - I have seen people take the FAR 61 route, with much success!

Re: UPS recommendeeeee get\'s hired.

Just curious, how many hours? 3000+??

What sort of flying background do they have?

Re: UPS recommendeeeee get\'s hired.

I'm gonna say he had at least 4000 hours PIC turbine in RJ's and was a check airman for Mesa. At this level, that, and how many type ratings you have, is really all that matters.

Re: UPS recommendeeeee get\'s hired.

bah- I was hoping to see it was Sandersen(son?)..

Awesome for your other friend, though!

Re: UPS recommendeeeee get\'s hired.

Lucky guy,

How old is he/she?

How long did this person work at Mesa?

Why would how many type ratings you have matter? Your Mesa friend likely has only one, assuming the CR2 and CR7 share a type.

Re: UPS recommendeeeee get\'s hired.

I'm just making a general statement that multiple type ratings gets noticed more than the difference between 4000 PIC turbine and 6000 PIC turbine.
