My understanding that if an unmonitored NAVAID goes off line, then the navaid will self test itself (during which it may actually give off signals) and then it will go offline if it fails it's own test.
I know that you can't file an unmonitored approach as an alternate, but are there any other precautions that you should take if you were actually going to shoot an approach that is unmonitored?
