Unknown screen in 744 near footwell?

I was looking as some 747-400 cockpit shots and noticed that some of them have a little screen near both pilots rudder footwells, to the left of the capt, right of FO, other airlines simply have a storage bin in that spot, can anyone tell me what that screen would be used for?

Thanks

To keep the flies out when the window is open?

Sorry. Couldn't resist.

Should have, though.

Don't know the answer to your question, either.

Weather Radar. If you look at an older 747-200 pic, you'll see the same thing, I bet. Now...I would assume that you would get a weather radar display on your "Nav Screen". That would be one of the big screens and would show position info, sort of like a moving map. That's where we get wx radar info on the 757/767. So....I don't know why you would need a separate screen for weather radar in a high tech 747-400, but that's what I'm guessing it is.

When I was a kid, like in the late 1970's, I had this big blow up poster of a 747-200 cockpit. The weather radar screen was in a same spot as your questionable screen.
