Anyone on here at OU? I'll be a freshman in the professional flight program this next fall and I can't wait to start, just wondering if anyone on JC goes there.

Yes and no... Active Navy out at Tinker. Been working out of OU airfield with a private plane.

However, about to start going through the OU program as a part 61 student in a week or so.

Oh ok cool deal, hopefully I'll see you out there, how far into the program will you be this fall? Maybe we'll end up in the same ground school or something

I am a sophomore at OU right now. I started off in aviation as a freshman in the aviation management program, but am now currently getting a double major in energy management and economics.
It's not that the aviation program wasn't good (I think it's one of the better schools out there), it was just the current outlook for pilots that scared me away from a pilot role in the aviation industry. I am now looking into getting into the business side of aviation (hence the econ degree).
If you have any questions about the program or more on why I got out of it, send me a PM!

I'm hoping to finish up my private here soon... Have about 2-1/2 years left until the military decides to let me retire. Want to build time, along with an instrument rating, before that happens.

After retirement, hope to go back and use the GI Bill to pursue a second bachelor's in their pilot program, finishing up all the rest of the ratings. Should have over 500 hours at that point, plus all my military flight engineer experience and an Aviation Maintenance Management degree from ERAU.

Would love to wind up working on planes and flying them. With over 20 years of experience in the maintenance side, hopefully I can find a dream job somewhere. LOL

Yep, I go to OU. Aviation Management major with an Air Traffic Management minor.

Let me know if you have any questions, I'd be happy to help.

I'm going to be starting at OU this fall too, but I'm going to do my training when I can in Tulsa so I won't be in the flight program there. Anyone know if they rent out planes for currency/time building if you're not in the Aviation program?

I know they do list their planes with hourly prices on their site. However, I'm not sure about the "rental" idea. Think it's mostly for people in my pinch, working flight training under 61 rules.

While people joke about the Civil Air Patrol, the outfit there at Norman is actually pretty laid back. The CO is a retired enlisted Navy guy. We've pretty much taken over with squids and poke fun at the AF way of doing things. Once you're checked out, using the CAP plane is pretty easy and VERY affordable, if not free, for currency.

I'm a senior at OU. I recently decided to enter their flight training program. I'll be doing advanced flying this spring, secondary in the summer, commerical in the fall, and hopefully CFI next spring because I should already have my instrument. PWA has a few planes for rent, but they're pretty expensive. I think the cheapest I've seen is $149. The same place had a 152 for cheaper, but I'm not sure what the prices are and the last time I saw it someone jacked it all up and it had not been flown in quite some time.
